I have noticed that my sense of taste is returning somewhat, but after several years of tasting something that resembles a wet skunk (analogs) I find that I really don't care what my vape tastes like. Even when I start burning filler, I barely notice it.

Anyone else have this issue? I keep seeing all the "tastes bad" posts, but I really don't seem to care. Even burning filler tastes better than burning a stink stick.

I'm afraid I'm just not noticing that I'm burning the filler in time as they are often completely dry and sometimes even show visible signs of burning.

I'm pretty new to this really, and have been off analogs for only a month. Having said that, to me, burning filler is awful, and I would sooner smoke an analog than hit my cartos too dry. Yuck, man.

Maybe my sense of taste is just that dead?? I dunno, but I can definitely tell the difference, but I hate the taste of analogs just that much!!

lol... Give it some time yet. Also, nicotine is a nerve duller... so it actually dulls the taste buds. I pretty much agree with your general point tho... however your threshold for gross taste is lower than mine. I'm not a carto fan becuase they don't taste as good as atty-dripping, for instance. They all taste like stale filler to me (unburnt).

That said, I smoked analogs for 30 years. Same gross flavor every day. lol. So all this pretentiousness around juice flavors gets to be a bit funny after a while. Then the fan-boys do a review...."Gee... this <whatever flavor> juice tastes more like <whatever> than this other vendor's juice.... I give it a 4.75293 on my 5 point scale" ROFL. Gets to be a bit much.

Basically, if you like it, cool, as far as flavor goes. You get tired of it after a while and switch.

The way I see it, it clearly comes down to a matter of preference, and also a variety of reasons behind switching to vaping.

Some people switch to vaping and dive right into the "gotta try every flavour on the planet" phase, which is fine. This is the equivalent that someone that finds a new passion, like magic for example, and buys every different pack of cards they can get their hands on. I know, I've been down that road LoL

But when it came to the vaping, I doubt I'll get too into that phase. For example, the person who sold me my units also sent me two flavours that he didn't like for me to try until my first batch of juices came in. I filled my tank with his unfavoured juice, and low and behold, it gave me the satisfactory throat hit and nic fix I hoped for (and then some). So now I still have a bunch of flavours on the way that will, quite frankly, be superfluous to my requirements. But to each his own. I think part of the reason that the transition from smoking to vaping is so successful for so many people is that they get to try all these different flavours, an experience that they don't really get to have with tobacco.

So whatever the reason, no matter the flavour preference, vaping is clearly the wise transitional choice that I would likely make even if the vapour had no flavour whatsoever.

Vape on!

Well, might I suggest a carto tank? You literally slip the carto into the tank, and fill it with juice, in a nutshell :0) then you can visually SEE when your getting low on juice.

Now, I am a Jonboy fan, without a doubt, he makes some of THE stoutest tanks out there. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...r-forum/178535-jonboyusmcs-ce2-tank-mods.html He started with CE2's and now makes carto mods as well.

Jump to the back of the thread and you can see some of his work by flipping back. He makes all his tanks by hand so they are a little spendy (45 bucks) but, they NEVER leak, they are works of art, and he stands behind the workmanship 110%. About the only way you are really going to kill one of these is to run it over with a CAR.

While I do agree that a burned wet skunk  is the worst, I do care about the taste of my juice now. When I first started, all I had was Strawberry from a horrible kiosk and it was fine... but after a month it was horrible. It didn't go well with my coffee, it was too sweet at times, other times it was too week... my tastebuds just became picky I guess. :vapor:

I am a tanker and I like the taste in my juices. Right now I am working on a Pink Spot juice (G-Spot) which is a grape and it is pretty good. Have you tried any good juices lately?? **giggles....

I'm prolly going to be making a run up to Denton to Vaporescence soon where I'll get one of his liquinators, so...yea...I may be a tanker too! My curiosity is peaked by this G-Spot stuff though...what is it? Will it make me blush?

G-Spot is made by pinkspotvapors.com and it reminds me of grape koolaid LOL. I did the 18mg nic level which is different than the 16mg I started with from Vaporescence but so far so good. All the juices I got from Pink Spot are pretty darn good but I needed this break from the cinnamon/mint vape I had been doing for the past 4 days. I am going to make a run up to the Denton shop Monday and grab another tank and some carto's.

Yeah, some people who smoke for a very long time tend to lose their full sense of taste and smell for a very long time. It will come back eventually. I only smoked for 3 years, so it wasn't long enough to have that much of an affect on my taste. I would lose taste every now and then, but it wasn't a very big problem for me. I was off analogs for 2 or 3 weeks before I started vaping and I've had no trouble tasting any flavors that I've tried. Yeah, the burning taste, to me, is awful, but I can understand why you wouldn't notice it. It's a very common problem among lots of long-term smokers x)
But try to keep an eye on it. Vaping dry carts isn't good for your atty  don't wanna ruin any of 'em sooner than you have to! I fill my cart back up when I taste the slightest hint of burning, or anything else that doesn't taste like the e-liquid really, so it's easier for people who can taste well to keep their attys wet. But doing so will give you wayy better atty life. I've only bought one vaporizer since I began vaping and I haven't had any trouble with mine because I keep it clean and keep it wet. It's lasted me almost a full month of 4-8 hours of vaping every day. My bro popped his atty in 2 weeks because he wouldn't do what I said to take care of it xD
But anyway, good luck with it! Just be sure to keep an eye on it. Look at it from a different perspective.. At least you don't have to worry about finding your perfect flavor and trying hundreds of new flavors all the time :) If it were me in your shoes, I'd get some of the unflavored vape until my taste returned to normal. Maybe with the unflavored kind, you will be able to taste the burning better when it does happen. I don't know this for a fact, because I've never tried it, but it's worth a shot. Happy vaping!

Thanks guitarmeetsjake! I like the way you look at the silver lining in the cloud...lol! I did notice that recently I started vaping Cherry Cola exclusively for two days. Then suddenly I couldn't taste it any more. Picked up my Mango and it tasted wonderful again. Before it had started tasting like burnt sugar. I guess you have to keep playing switcheroo with the different flavors to keep 'em fresh...

I used to say that even a bad tasting juice was better than an analog. This is still true, but now I do have my preferences. I still vape what I get whether I think it is great, or just so so. I think I am getting better at choosing flavors.
Same way with me. I can't waste my juice. Out of all the flavors I've tried (not many and still tons more I got in the mail I need to try when my Riva comes in), coffee is my least favorite. I don't know why. I LOVE coffee. I'm a huge coffee person, which is probably why I don't like it. The nicstick brand that I have stored in the cabinet tastes more like dark chocolate than coffee, which I don't like; however, I'm still going to vape it. I don't like it, but I can't complain when it tastes better than cancer sticks do, can I? x)

I've had some eliquids that I just didn't particularly like, that's life, including some I initially enjoyed. I've been DIYing for months, so that's no longer an issue.
I've been vaping long enough to notice when my cartos are running low. I use standard cartos, and for months I've not bothered putting the rubber tip back in (tailpiping); I just glance at the filler, if it's looking too dry I top it off automatically.

Same here xD I haven't been vaping long and I still use standard carts that came with my starter kit, but I can tell when the taste is wearing down just a little or when I'm not getting hits as strong as what I'm supposed to be getting. I take a few more hits every time just to make sure that I'm assuming correctly when I think I'm running low on liquid. Sure enough, 2 or 3 drags later, I'll start tasting the filler. I'm currently vaping maxboro and I've grown so hooked on this stuff from one 30ml bottle that I can always tell if the taste is beginning to fade in the least; however, I probably couldn't tell that from a different flavor. I think it's just this particular mix of liquid xP

Ok, I'll be the lone oddball here. I still like the analog taste, at least from memory. What can compete against fond memories, a girl you once knew? It's been months since my last analog, tasted lousy then, and I don't want to go back, but I'd rather smoke that nasty thing than vape horrible juice, like some heavily peppery juice I sampled. Some juice makers just don't bark up my tree. If I hadn't found some agreeable juice, I might have gone back!
