Where does the nic come from?

Where do they extract the nicotine from? or is it synthetically made in a lab?

Synthesis of nicotine is too expensive for commercial use.

It is extracted from various tobacco variants. South American and Chinese varieties have the highest nicotine content. American blends are mediocre- the worst of which is the Burley variety.

Tomatoes also have nicotine. But not enough to make extraction economically viable.

trace amounts of nicotine are found in many plant foods, especially from the nightshade family. pretty sure that's not where they're getting it from, though. :)

I didn't know that. Whenever I heard nightshade I think of Skyrim :D
