There are a lot of options out there, and even looking over slowtechs site, I am unsure as to where to start.

I have experience rebuilding my coils from my Halo Triton's. So I have a healthy supply of 32ga a-1 kanthal, as well as 2mm silica and 2mm solid and 2.5mm hollow ekowool

Currently I am using my Itaste vv/vw v3 and the iclear 16. But I am looking to move to the next step. Xmas time I am thinking of picking up either a eVic or provari. But I wanted to get into the rba and RDAs now.

rebuildable tank is preferred for out and about. But I could try the dripping for home use. But with all the choices out there, and not knowing whats good or not (especially for clones), im not sure where to place my money. Anyone have suggestions and/or links?

The problem with suggestions is there are now literally hundreds of RDAs and RTAs on the market... and everyone has a favorite. For one person to say "this is the best" and it to be a fact, is highly improbable... akin to asking strangers what car you should buy, without intimate knowledge of your driving needs / desires, and sufficient knowledge and experience to make qualified recommendations.

You can go with perhaps the most popular of all RTAs... the KFL+/R91% - then you have all the variations and possible upgrades/personalizations for those, as they are mostly part interchangeable when authentic or 1:1 clones.

RTAs slightly less common but with large followings are the Taifun GT, Squape, Rose, Flash-E Vapor and Fogger. More recent entries are the Gus Estia, Orchid and Erlkonigin. The most recent entries are... what ever came out yesterday. ;-)

RDAs are for the most part, all the same. Most are 3 post with some sort of AFC. Yes, there are split center (4 post), five post and beyond... coil count is only dependent on your building skills, desired resistance and sufficient current to support them.
Some like ultra short, shallow well drippers... while others prefer deeper juice wells, and less frequent dripping.

Although they've been around awhile, experienced drippers who look at the latest trends objectively, rank RDAs like the Origen and Magma as flavor favorites, with semi-unique attys like the Veritas, Odin and Hobo gaining ground. If you like to watch things happen, there are glass cap "see-through" RDAs, and and replacement clear plastic for many of the popular attys.

There are flavor lovers, cloud chasers and those that like some balance of both... with some RDAs, your have tunability allowing a broad range. Cloud chasers / deep sub-ohmers tend to look at post count and style (thick wire), high heat tolerant post insulators, AFC opening net area and large bore / insulated DTs.

If I said - "get a KFL+/R91%, Taifun GT and Gus Estia as well as an Origen V2, Hobo and Odin" - what logic would you use to determine if my choices are correct for your needs... anymore than someone popping in and telling you the Rose, Orchid and Erlkonigin, along with a Plume Veil, Magma and TOBH are the attys to have?

I definitely agree that suggestions on RDA's are subjective. I can recommend atties all day but it's really what YOU like not what I like. But I can definitely say that MY favorites have been the Tobh 2.5, Stillare v2, and the 454 Big Block. As far as RTA's I only have 1 of them and its the Kayfun Lite Plus v2 and it's sexy and it hits really well. It produces some really good flavor. Not as good as an RDA but it's definitely up there.

It really all depends on what you're looking for. When I go out and buy an RDA I'm looking for something that has a lot of airflow and a tri post design because that's what I like. That's why I have the Tobh and Stillare. But the 454 Big Block is awesome for dual vertical coils and run it with all 4 air holes open and you get some cloudage.

So watch some Rip Trippers videos and figure out what you're going to like.

A single coil tank for a Provari or EvicS. Kayfuns/Russians work well, are easy to learn and have a ton of fun accessories you can buy.

I would also look at the Lemo or Taifun GT. If you want more of a challenge, the Rosev2 or Erlkonigin.

A magma with single coil would also work nicely on those devices for an RDA.

If you want to go dual coil I would recommend a higher power mod or a mech for best results. Maybe that could be your next setup :)

Thanks guys, lots of good info for me to go off of.

The biggest issue I really had is with the dozens of options available, kind of made my head spin. Ive seen the more common names (KFL, Russian, fogger, taifun) tossed around, but still trying to decide which way to go was hard for me.
And my #1 goal is to have great flavor. Clouds are good, but I am not going to go crazy with sub-ohming. I buy juices of flavors that I love, I want to be able to taste it and enjoy it. But knowing how well all the choices perform for this was something that was hard for me to find. And of course each setup is different, so theres not going to be a definitive "go buy this". But a simple "the current popular ones are _____, ______, and _______" helps a bit.

I guess i can say its similar to paintball. Like trying to decide between an autococker or a shocker style gun :D (tried recently to get back into it..... I had to close the computer and walk away. Just too much)

Tomorrow I will have to check out some of those videos

I would suggest skipping the clones. I've bought a few in the last couple months (Orchid and Squape Reloaded) and most have been junk. What has worked best for me is buying used in the classified section here. I've bought a few Russians and Kayfuns for $50-60 a piece. A little more than the clones, but hey, they actually work, and work well.
