Distilled water. Forgot that one and had to take a trip to the store.

Mix next to (if not in) a sink. If you get any nic *AT ALL* on your skin rinse immediately and thoroughly.

48mg/ml is plenty strong and is easy to work with since you can cut it by 50% giving you 24mg. Cut it again and you have 12mg. Works great and is less dangerous than the really potent Nic.

Eye protection. Flavors are very concentrated. Nothing crazy, I personally use magnifiers that protect my eyes and allow me to see what's going up nice and close.

I'd suggest a few 60ml bottles (for unflavored VG/PG/nig base), a couple of 30ml (for the flavors you discover and you don't want to have to mix everyday), and 4 or more of 10-15ml bottles. Good for when finding interesting mixes and letting them steep a bit. I find some mixes taste better the next day or even a week/month later.

I personally like and use on an almost daily basis: 3ml syringe,10ml syringe, and a 30ml syringe.
small set of brushes to properly clean your bottles and syringes.

Lot's of wipes/napkins. VG/PG is messy :)

Space in your fridge for flavors :) My wife is complaining that I have more in flavors/spices than she does...

EM is a must! It's commonly called "bubblegum" flavor. It's a basic every DIYer should have; use *very* sparingly. Read up on diying all you can.

An ECF member named "Hoosier" has some very useful DIY info. Have a look at his blog.

Caramel, vanilla, ethyl maltol, sweetener, sour, and lemon are all musts imo
They are very versatile.

You need a few 1mL syringes, some gloves. Optimally- 10+ 10mL bottles, 5+ cobalt blue bottles, 3+ 60mL brown bottles.
That's all I can think of for now.

I've never heard of EM being referred to as bubblegum. Maybe you meant to say cotton candy...
I only use my 1mL syringes on a daily basis and my 10mL on a weekly/monthly basis. I have a 30mL but I've only used it for filtering extracts and such.

I keep all my DIY stuff on the back porch where it gets really cold. Once winter is up I will have to buy a mini fridge or something.

Yes, EM and cotton candy flavoring are the same thing. County fair cotton candy is pretty much the same too, except I think it has a touch of some type of fruit added.
I also have bubblegum flavor and it smells *completely* different.

I've had WL accidently send me LA blackberry instead of TFA blackberry once. Mistakes happen.

EM is not potent at all. Its flavor and smell are very very subtle.

I've been DIYing about 5 months. I have two bottles, one EM and the other bubblegum. both are identical. That's funny that after all this time I've got "bubblegum" imprinted in my head.. due to the potency of EM, I still have over half of both 15ml bottles. :)
My "potency" is referring to it's ability to drastically change the taste when mixing. I typically use less than 2%. Anything more can wipe out a quality mix in my case. I've rarely had any luck with 5% or more with it.

I'll be doing some tests to see if there's any difference between the two: you're probably right, maybe I am victim of a mix up. Based on what I see on the forums, most folks do refer to EM as cotton candy.

I used to do the same thing. But after reading Hoosier's flavor blog, I gave his method a shot. I was floored at how much the EM actually changed the flavor. I mixed a 4ml batch of my "daily vape" and instead of dropping 10 percent, I tried 1% just to see. It turned out to be sweeter to me than with 10%, and the other flavors became way too strong. I went back to the drawing board and remade all my mixes again. I use much less flavoring than I did in the beginning. I know this is all according to our different tastes; I'm just sharing my experience. No offense taken, we are all here to learn and better our lives and improve our health :)

Serious side question ......... What's the backup plan?! The looming FDA threat. I'm assuming the Flavors and PG/VG will always be available, but the nicotine. I can't help but have this "stock up the bunker" fear when reading all the post about it.

Should I buy a mass amount of nic base? Can it be stored? How long does it last? Is buying overseas a option if it gets to that point?

I have kicked around the idea of DIY for some time and honestly Im moving on it because of this.....what are you guys planning to do?

I just called Wizard Labs because a purchased a lot of nic and was wondering what the best long term storage was. They said break it up into smaller bottles making sure not to all much air at the to and freeze. I purchased some 4oz (118ml) amber glass bottles with Phenolic Lids.

I would get the ethyl maltol from WL in liquid form to start. The crystals are fine, but you have to learn to get it dissolved completely.

Having worked once at Double Bubble, I can tell you bubblegum flavor is a whole different thing. It's a bunch of fruit flavors mixed together.

What WL flavor works best as EM? The Bubblegum concentrate, regular bubblegum or the cotton candy????
