Thanks for the quick reply.
The Kayfun Series seem to be out of my price range.
I was looking for something in the $20 range - 30 max.
That being said, the RSST seems a good match with good reviews.
Being an electrical/mechanical engineer, I am not too worried about the first timer problems with shorts etc...

Any other advice?
I would like to order/get shipped something today.
I have my Vamo 5, batts and charger already on the way :)

Thanks...

I use lower thread-count meshes (200-300) for higher VG juices, and higher count mesh (400-500) for PG-based juices. The coarser (lower count) mesh seems to wick up thicker juices more effectively....

I am running a 50/50 juice in my genny right now and am using 400 mesh; it is wicking nicely.....28 or 30ga. Kanthal works well for most genny applications....

I recently picked up a Pyrex RSST as my first rebuildable, despite all of the warnings and the "Should have bought a Kayfun" comments. I could not be happier with my decision.

I was able to get it up and running on my first try and had a ~2ohm coil working well on a plain mesh wick (unoxidized). This worked well on my old MVP at 5v, but wanted to use it on a mech so I scrapped the coil and wound a new one that came in around 1.1ohm. Wow. I've been using the current build for a week and it seems to just keep getting better. I did end up drilling the air intake out to 1/16" as I found the stock draw real tight.

I will say that there will be some tinkering involved to make sure you get rid of hotspots/legs, but I really didn't find it very difficult. There are tons of great videos on youtube of how to build, the pbusardo one is the one I followed.

I picked mine up from Kidney Puncher, they cost a little more than others but open each one up to make sure that everything is in good shape and that there aren't any manufacturing issues. They also have good prices on a variety of rebuilding supplies (mesh, kanthal, etc). I'm currently using 28g kanthal and #400 mesh w/ 50/50 juice. They'll even pre-drill out the air intake if you so desire, but a $2 cobalt bit from Home Despot was cheaper and I wanted to try the stock airflow for reference.

Yeah the RSST is a great atty to get your feet wet in the world of gennys. It was my first genny and performed very well for me for a long time. I have since moved onto more high-end genesis attys, but the RSST performs VERY well IMHO.....

Kool.
That corresponds with most that I have read.
RSST it is!

Is their a particular model to get to make sure I have the newest?

Thanks all!

There are three models of RSST that I'm aware of, the single coil plastic tank, single coil Pyrex tank and dual coil Pyrex tank. I use the single coil ones with 200 mesh at 80% VG and 28ga Kanthal as my all day device. Shoot me a PM if you struggle to get it set up.

RSST are good but to make them better, takes more money then the authentic Kayfun. From chamber reducers to large bore kits.

Take a look at kidneypuncher and in the search box type RSST. Take a look at all the stuff available.

If you want a Geni for you RBA, Sat22 or Dome clones would be much better.

Tiny chambers aren't everyone's preference, tho. As another little recent discussion sheds light on - smaller chambers are just different - not necessarily better. To me, there is such a thing as too small of a chamber for my preferred vapor "feel".

Haven't tried any Sat22 clone (yet), but the Dome clones I've played with were not too great. Rubbish plastic insulators. And, if you remove them, the wick gets so close to the oversized deck screws your coil will make contact. If there is a "good kind" of Dome clone without those issues, I'd very much like to know. I think it's decent, but I'm not a big enough fan of the concept to fork up $200+ for an original. :)

I ended up going with the SMOK RSBT Hybrid.
Reviews seem very good.
Build looks easy.
SOOO, my first try away from the Ego world will be a Vamo V5 with the SMOK RSBT Hybrid.
Now to get some 28 gauge Kanthal and some wick material on order.
Still confused on wick material type.
Maybe just get some of several types?

Any suggestions?

Thanks...
