well... you can get a good cordless one for not too much coin... or you can put straps on a car battery, get yourself one of those inverter contraptions, and there ya go!

I have a somewhat strange relationship with her. We are close friends, we are fond of each other, we have a lot in common, we confide in each other, but DON'T mention romance or boyfriend/girlfriend to her.

It's a rented apartment. If I were going to spend thousands on anything, it wouldn't be my landlord's apartment. (ETA: Except, maybe, a couple of hundred on a vanity when I have a steady income again.)
Besides, 9 years ago they started putting in new cupboard. They did the top 2 floors -- I live on the second to top -- before realizing that the guys they hired were idiots. This year they did the rest of the kitchens. The ones that don't have windows got passthroughs to the living rooms, new cupboards that are intelligently designed, all new appliances and new floors. But those of us who got cupboards 9 years ago get nada (except the mice who got evicted from all the construction.)
