Is the Nook like the Fire?
I know, I'm ignorant---just started looking into them.
Really?!? That is interesting... I had no idea. I just never looked into them much. There's a Barnes and Noble one too right? the Nook or something??

Not sure if all of them do but the Kindle keyboard one does too. Yeah.....it's The Nook.
They do have a new Nook Tablet out....just saw the commercial....LOL
Is the Kindle Fire the one they have for around $75?Hmmm.. Might have to check it out. I know it seems like the d/ls for the books are cheaper and I'd look into the audio app because unabridged audios can go quite high as cds....
Of course! Is the Kindle Fire the one they have for around $75?
Amazon has a lot of free books. I think I have only bought 2 books for full price for the Kindle. All the others were under $3 most of them free. Course I will read just about anything.....LOL
No the Fire is $199......my Christmas present from the DH![]()
Ahh.... That's a nice present!!![]()
He is happy with it.....he doesn't have to go shopping......LOL
Hi Jane![]()
Kent, that was basically pig latin to me.
I was in Best Buy today, just looking. It's going to be a while before I'm ready to actually shop but as long as I was passing the store… The sales guy said you can't connect stereo speakers to a TV without a receiver or preamp or something in between. But I trust you guys more than them.
Seems to me that they should make speaker wire with plugs on one end and wire on the other.
I know the type of "push button, open the hole to stick the wire in" connection you are talking about.Well, that's actually true regarding preamp or receiver but some TV's have preamps in them. Without them, yeah, you'd have to go through a receiver... which is the setup I have. My speakers have plugs that go into the speaker and bare wire which inserts into an 'audio out' on the receiver - that is as I described - a spring loaded port where you push on it to open it and then it closes like 'teeth' against the bare wire endbest way to describe it without a picture. But again there are many different 'audio out' ports available on receivers these days - HDMI, 'optical', RCA type plugs (red, white, black - usually - sometimes yellow for video also) and 'composite' each with a different port/connection.
When people say the TV speakers aren't that good - they're usually comparing them to some 5 or 7 speaker set up through a receiver. And some TV speakers aren't that bad, esp. compared to a 2 speaker stereo setup. You might try that out - I know in the store there's going to be distractions but it's worth a try....
