Beyond The Sea
I must go down to the sea again. To the lonely sea and the sky. And all I ask is a tall ship…
It's a poem.

Kent, are you a movie buff? What era? I've gotten rusty but there was a time when I could take on anyone for movie trivia from the 30s-50s.

You're right, of course, by John Masefield.

Hi Jane. I have a good memory is all and I've seen a few movies in my time. The one's I like I'll see over so more info taken in.... I simply don't go out to see any movies now at the theater - too many disappointments in the past - all the hype then - what were they thinking?? On Disney trips when it's raining - we'll take in some but I've walked out on many...

While I've seen some from the 40's and 50's you'd rule there.... better movies too, imo. Some exceptions.

Heading out. Just checking in here for the night owls..... later....

Me too...love the classics. New ones don't seem as good.

Me too!!! Just out of curiousity.... Have you ever seen The Princess Bride?

Yes. It would be INCONCEIVABLE if I hadn't!

Is it Master and Commander?

It was used in Star Trek 6 I think as well as the original series. That franchise loved to quote literature. :thumb:

Of course, with the true "classics," they've already sorted out the junk so we only see the cream of the crop. But I also enjoy the mid-level oldies.

In general (with lots of exceptions), I think the old comedies are better. I've got nothing against bathroom humor but I think it's too easy. "Say something crude and everyone will laugh" doesn't take the finesse and timing of a Cary Grant-Katharine Hepburn exchange.

ETA: For example, Jack Lemon & Tony Curtis in Some Like It Hot vs. the Wayans brothers in White Chicks. You pick.
