There was a place in Toledo that was 'known for their great soups' (minus the notsee) Andre's - no longer there.... As well as having quality ingredients and great recipes/spices - they would put some beer in their soup - I'm sure it's been done elsewhere but it was part of their 'secret' and it works too.

Love that shot of Z - first saw it on the kent's thread (beach theme) although she may have used it before - I'm also a late arrival at j0kers... doesn't seem so now though. These guys are friendly! even to me! 
There is at least ONE great soup place in every good sized city. Just think, if you were a food critic, you get to travel, try them all and...write about them! Bet you like the last part.

...and well - it is a subtle thing - you wouldn't guess it if you didn't know, but once you know, then you can detect it
And it doesn't have to be from a newly opened bottle/can... that isn't the afffect and I had to do many tests to find out the right amount - it's not much - like a 2 tablespoons for a clam chowder, mushroom can take about as much, perhaps a tablespoon for tomato... ymmv. No eeeewwww's please - I'm thinking clam might not be on your menu
