If you go to the western part of RI, near the CT border, it's more rural and there are country stores there. Actually, I think it would be nice to have a general store, with a checkerboard, pot bellied stove and where everyone knows your name. I should have been born in the mid 1800s instead of the mid 1900s.

Go in there, light up the pipe, play some checkers and not worry about some clown telling me that smoking in there is illegal.

I think it would be great too. Maybe they can bulldoze part of Boston and ruralize it.

Actually out in western Massachusetts its really rural. There are country stores.

I can not copy and paste anything!
I have to download onto my desktop and then upload on my site - most annoying.
the only ones that work for me with ctr c and ctr v are the smiles

This way Jojo. Just add a [ to the first and last img and it should work for you.

:confused::confused: Oh, you mean the ice box.

I remember those...my grandmother had one up until the late 60's...we had to crank the bucket down the well across the street to get her water too until dad ran a line to the sink for her. Still had to go to the outhouse though...man I hated that!! Never did get a toilet in the house.

When i was a kid we had a summer cottage with the outhouse up in the woods. Walking through the woods at night with the mosquitoes and the bats and howling in the woods was an adventure.

Nico, my father was in the grocery business for over 40 years. When I was a kid, one day a week, he ran a small store, in Plainville, MASSACHUSETTS. During summer vacation, he would bring me to work with him on that day. They had pickle barrels, but they also had potato barrels, cracker barrels. etc.

Huh...our country store had a wooden bin they dumped the potatoes in....only thing I paid attention to was the penny candy...especially the 2 foot long red licorice whips!

I never had an outhouse, but there were a few still around, when I was a kid. This was a rural area, at that time, now it's a blasted suburb.

Yup Nico, there were a few small stores around here that sold penny candy, when I was a kid. My allowance went pretty fast on "payday".
