My friend had a 1961 Chevy Impala that for some reason when you went around a corner the horn would honk. We used to get so embarrassed by that thing!! But sometimes it was funny too!

No inspections here ever unless maybe you move here from out-of-state.

You wouldn't believe the things we used to drive around it. Just thinking about it makes me laugh. We were lucky we never crashed though. I remember bombing around in an old station wagon where the brakes would give out every so often.

This guy I lived with was driving and we flew through a four way intersection - no brakes. It was right by his work. He pulled right in - said I'm off to work - and asked me can you get the car home allright and pick me up at 11? I told him I was never driving that piece of junk again.

When I was a kid, my friend had a 1950 Studebaker. The doors wouldn't stay closed and when he would go around a curve, they would fly open. We had to be careful not to sit too close to the door, or we would fly out too. lol. Crazy kids !!!!

LMAO!! Reminds me of Bruce's old Charger. We were driving in a canyon road at night and he hit the button for the brights and the lights went out! No moon or nothing! It took a few clicks of the button to get the lights to come back on.

I lost my brakes a few times. I got pretty good at using the emergency brake to slow down. lol. I had a friend who worked at a gas station, for a few bucks, he would just slap an inspection sticker on my car....until the station owner found out. lol.

Even though I was only in my 20s I lost a few years careening through that intersection.

i drove an old Chevy Impala and one of the headlights wouldn't go on unless you gave it a good bash. I was at a gas station once and the guy there said your headlight's out. He was laughing his ... off when he saw me bash it and it worked, I never thought much of it until then.

When I got my permit, the first car I drove was a Chevy Impala and Dad made me take it out to this place where the roads had been flooded. Half of the road was gone!!! No shoulders...........My hands were gripping that steering wheel so hard it's a wonder I didn't break it!!!

It was more like I was too poor to have my car fixed !!! The exhaust pipe was so rusted and weak, that when a hole would pop up, I would wrap a tin can around it and use wire to keep it in place. The first car that I had on the road was a 1960 Ford Fairlane, it had 14 inch wheels. I had a couple of 15" wheels from a 1950 Ford on the back. It sloped down in front, like a race car. lol.

My father wouldn't let a girl near a car. So when I took my first driving lesson I knew NOTHING about cars. I gunned the car into a huge snowbank,

Course i never bothered learning anything about cars before that.

Oh lordy!! Now you are bringing back memories! We used to go 'drag' the ave. LOL And that was the 'style' back then to do that and put the kits on the back so it would be higher than the front. I remember telling Dad that my friend and I were going to the movies and we went down on the Ave instead.........not knowing that Dad had checked the mileage!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!! Oh, those were the days!!!

When my sister got her learner's permit, I took her to the busiest road in town, in my 1970 Camaro, which she knew was my pride and joy at the time. I told her to get behind the wheel and start driving. She was terrified, but I told her that if she could drive there, she could drive anywhere. She did it, without any problems, but I think she almost had a heart attack from fright. lol.
