I'm sorta here.

I had an appointment at 3 and, as usual, I was running late. So I dashed out and didn't have time to sweep the living room. When I got home at 6:15, the remains of their breakfasts were still on the floor directly under their cages. None of it had been dragged across the carpet.

That plus the fact that I have neither seen nor heard any non-avian animals in the apartment for 2 days makes me cautiously optimistic. (The fact that I saw one two days ago, and have not killed one since, makes me a little pessimistic.)

So they are getting really good at hiding or they have found food and shelter elsewhere. Hoping for the later.....
