hope she stays safe!

To be honest it scares the heck out of me. But she isn't a little girl anymore. she is 22 years old and I always told her to help people if she can. My Son in Law is staying home with their two kids. We will have them for a while, JOY JOY, I love having the little monsters running around my house. I might go with the same aid org. But I have not gotten clearance yet. I didn't keep my visa and passport up to date and flights are restricted right now. The military is going in to help as well, this is one mission I wish I was helping with.

brad, my thoughts will be with your daughter. going to where one might be exposed to radioactivity takes a lot of courage. nonetheless, first priority should be your own family, so maybe you'll reconsider your own options. at 22 everything seems doable and survivable but as we get older we learn that is not always the case.

Thinking good, protective thoughts for your daughter, Brad (and you if you end up going.) Does she have a special skill that got her clearance to go?

I find I'm bouncing back and forth between devouring every article on every news site and not going to those sites at all because I can't bear to read about it. I have one friend there who fortunately lives in the south so at least she's okay.

Yes, she was an exchange student and speeks the language. (so her passport and visa were still up to date) She is a tough young lady and can take care of herself. But I am still so worried. I want to be there to help, but I can't. It's one of the hardest things I have ever been through in my life.

Yes, I'm crying right now. It's so tough.

I hope you know we'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers. I know it's especially worrisome for a father to have a daughter in that situation.

Thanks, she is such a sweetheart. If she is 90 pounds I would be surprized. Strong as a rock though. I'm sure she can help, it's just scarry for me. I wan't to be there and hold her hand, but those days are over. She grew up strong and she grew up fast. My wife is taking it better than me.

Thanks Tib but the winter was so cold this year even 30s doesn't seem too bad at this point. So like the rest of the hardy New Englanders I'll tough it out.

Course if it snows again expect me at your doorstep.:p

Your neighbor back from the Bahamas yet?

God bless your daughter for doing this. You & wife too (even if you don't go) for helping and supporting your daughter.

Hang in there Brad, and be proud. Sounds like you have a wonderful, caring daughter. She got some of that from you no doubt. I will pray for her safety.
