:D Mine was Monday but changed it during the last oil change/battery check. Out in the country here, one hears a lot of generators come on during an outage - farmers are prepared :) I had a 5K portable unit with a "suicide lead" before this one.... plugged into a 220/240 plug in the garage. Also had battery back up on the sump - essential here.

Is that another name for a floating lead?

It's the cable that is plugged into both the 220 outlet and the generator. Before you plug it into the outlet you have to turn off the main switch manually, if not it becomes a 'suicide lead'. I had a breaker right at the box of the plug - was used for a hot tub... so I kept the cable there but with the breaker off.... But I had clear instructions as to what to do in the event of an outtage.... and it was discussed :)

That's exactly what I did in Guam, with a 5K gas gen. A cord with two male plugs. One for the dryer and one for the generator. Turn all breakers off, including main, connect cable, turn on generator, flip on dryer breaker and then turn on the breaker for what you need. Wouldn't run the AC though. :(

So did you do anything exciting today?

I just caught up with this thread is all. Hi Renee.:wub:
