Now that had to be expensive to run!!!
Depending on the load and the size of the generator, you can estimate about .75 - a gallon an hour. The more 'normal' 3KW generator would be even less than that. Diesel is good if you can find a good price.

Mine was Monday but changed it during the last oil change/battery check. Out in the country here, one hears a lot of generators come on during an outage - farmers are prepared
I had a 5K portable unit with a "suicide lead" before this one.... plugged into a 220/240 plug in the garage. Also had battery back up on the sump - essential here.
Is that another name for a floating lead?

So, all in all, a little more complicated than making a mod.

It's the cable that is plugged into both the 220 outlet and the generator. Before you plug it into the outlet you have to turn off the main switch manually, if not it becomes a 'suicide lead'. I had a breaker right at the box of the plug - was used for a hot tub... so I kept the cable there but with the breaker off.... But I had clear instructions as to what to do in the event of an outtage.... and it was discussed![]()
So did you do anything exciting today?

Yay!!! Just got a message from Z......she is fine but has a house full of family that has no power.
