According to the episode "Kids" from the first season of House, he might be pregnant.
The bad thing about it is that these next few days at work are VERY important for him. He's a mechanic at a Land Rover dealership. He has to replace an engine in a brand new car this week, and is very nervous about it. LOTS o parts lol. So I'm sure doing that with a stiff neck isn't fun.
UBA most likely your Dad is really going to be hurting at the end of the day and each day passing it will probably get worse. DH has neck problems and has worked on cars. The leaning and twisting really agitates a sore neck.
Heat, massage, and working the muscles (Physical Therapy type exercises) after he's had time to relax at night will help. The latter will help but while doing them, if it causes sharp pain, tell him to stop.
Hoping the best for him and that getting out and moving actually makes it feel better!!!
