I have never saved memories perhaps because I was behind the camera all the time, if i were in front of it they would have not last two shoots but i have a big box my ex left behind in the rain, i need to find time to scan the ones that are recoverable to throw the box away and send those pictures to my daughters, all the family history on the wife side is there

I have a lot of photo's I would like to scan but don't have the space on my computer right now.
an external flash drive 16gb is not so expensive and it can hold thousands of JPGs , why keep them on your computer, a computer is not the proper place to save your memories, if the puter dies all is gone

You need to have them in 2 places -- so a flash drive + something. But Photobucket now has unlimited storage for free (I think there's a maximum you can upload each month with a free account.) Apple just went from paid Mobile.me to free iCloud with unlimited storage. I'm sure there are tons of others.

Dad has lots of room on his computer -- he just has the pictures and a bunch of word documents.

I have never been an organized guy but you can scan them by group even later you can rearrange them on the external drive ,

I think that if you scan 2 pictures each day in 20 years you will got all of them in a sure place .......... or do you have more than 14 000 pictures :)
