No Jerry...It was so totally out of character for me to come into a new thread and say anything let alone a reply like I did. I don't know what I was thinking.....Obviously I guess I wasn't.....

You were caught up in the moment...or something.

Actually, what post? My memory fails me...it's forgotten. ;)

Space is at such a premium in Manhattan that the supermarket aisles are just barely wide enough for two carts to pass. But, as a result, people are very polite. We back up and let people pass, say "excuse me" and "thank you."

A few years ago, when they had the flu vaccine shortage, I got the flu. After a few days in bed I felt well enough to go to the supermarket for a couple of supplies. I slowly walked the half block, got ginger ale, tea, soup and crackers. As I turned into the aisle to get some lemons, I felt all clammy so I leaned on the handle of my cart. I heard the man behind me sarcastically say "Nice place to stop" before I passed out. I was fine, just ended up with a huge hematoma on my wrist and a scratch on my face, but whenever I think about it I feel so bad for that guy. He must have felt very guilty afterwards but it was exactly the sort of crack I would have made.

Nothing like some well timed "hoof in mouth" disease to humble oneself. I bet he humbled himself pretty good.

Glad you're ok for the most part.

I lived in the Bronx. New Yorkers are nice people...just got a high wall to climb over first - self defense.
