Amy, I'm hoping to get rid of cable. I'm spending $20+ a month just for broadcast channels. It's been a long time since I went cable-less. In general, the buildings in Manhattan have always simulated living in a canyon but I don't know if HD changed that (or the fact that the antennas are no longer on the World Trade Center.)
Once things quiet down on the Dad front I'll buy an antenna and test it out. Decent reception = no Time Warner = the antenna will pay for itself in a couple of months.
Actually, I hadn't thought of the birds, either. Poeia's not a problem. She refused to believe that she can fly -- she knows she's a people. When Annabella gets startled, there's no telling what she will hit. It's usually something in the bathroom but when the UPS guy came today, it was the living room window. TV will be bolted to a shelf that will blend into the table. One screw will = peace of mind.
Jerry, if you ever want to switch, going lefty is easy. Going back isn't.
