Good morning Z!

Morning Kevin!! My you're looking fine this morning.:p See.......... getting better already.

Wow, 14 posts today counting this one. :( Ive been too busy with work to "engage" in a conversation here lately.

Today was a good day with work.

But, I came home to a broken pipe leading to the water bib in the front yard. So, water is turned off here. What fun. Hopefully I wont be waiting all day for a plumber tomorrow. No shower for me tomorrow. Going to need twice the coffee.

Oldest daughter has decided, in the final stretches of the 2nd year of a 4 year college degree (full tuition scholarship) to drop out, and become an esthetician (sp?). So I am just mad as all :censored:ing hell about that. What a stupid, stupid, costly :censored:ing mistake that I am sure she will regret forever after she figures it out. :grr::grr::grr::grr::grr: Hopefully she will snap out of it. One can hope.

Other than that, it was a banner day.

I'm going to try and sleep.

That really sucks, Ralph, not the pipe (that blows too...pardon the pun ), but daughter dropping out. Those scholarships don't come easy and tuition is mad these days. :(

OTOH, college isn't everything, look at Bill Gates and Michael Dell who dropped out. Some people don't find their true calling 'til later in life too.

Anyway you can propose a "contract" with her, that you'll buy her a car if she can finish the two years? It may be worth the bargain...to you...peace of mind.

Sorry about the plumbing.

I can't imagine that any esthetician programs start in April or May. If you can convince her to finish out this year she can transfer the credits if she decides to get her degree later. (It will cost her $ as she won't have the scholarship but at least the entire year won't have been wasted.)

I have a friend who always wanted to be a hair dresser so, after she graduated college, she trained for that. (The trade school needed a copy of her HS diploma with her application and they wouldn't accept the college one instead.) jag Bill Gates took a leave of absence from Harvard to start Microsoft with Paul Allen. If it hadn't succeeded, he could have gone back to finish his degree. Michael Dell and Mick Jagger dropped out of college when their "side jobs" were already successful.

Hi Poeia!

You're right about Gates and Dell. Some do become successful without a college degree, but it's against the odds. I'm all for her finishing her degree, especially with a scholarship. My brother dropped out after 2 years and I wish he hadn't. I was just trying to comfort Ralph...give another perspective. :)
