Re the ants: I had a very few. The bigger problem was flour bugs. Fortunately a few daddy long legs moved in and I'm bug free.
Anyway, when one moves, they all do because they follow the smell. So make sure you regularly wipe their path clean -- ammonia, perfume, Fabreeze, Tide -- it doesn't matter, just kill the scent.
