hi Louis and welcome to the forum. If I had it to start over again I'd go directly for a mod/battery and the Nautilus Mini. The iStick 30W (2400 mah - $35.00) or the iStick 50W (4400 mah - $50.00) and the Nautilus Mini ($28) and a 5 pack of BVC coils ($15). The iSticks are really user friendly and the Aspire Nautilus gives a great flavor. With a mod/battery of these types you can grow into the sub ohm tanks and coil building hobby.

I started with a blister pack (650 mah eGo battery and CE 5 clearomizer) from a cig store for $20. It was enough to tell me I liked to vape and it could work to get off the cigs. It took me 12 days to get to the proper nicotine level then the cigs were gone for good. I spent a lot of money between the blister pack and the Istick 50W that I now use. (the rule of thumb is you will want a back up battery and tank, so you don't have to start with the best, the starter becomes the backup)

The iStick's are on the far right next to the lighter, Black mod topped with the Nautilus Mini.

I can't really argue with the suggestions of Sir2fyablyNutz. If you are truly serious about quitting smoking, a mod setup will have a higher chance of success. This is the setup that most experienced vapers end up with eventually. You'll get longer battery useage and a wider variety of juice delivery attachment options than you'll get with either a "cigalike" or eGo battery setup, and end up saving money in the long run.

Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder

Proper Terminology: Juice Delivery Devices

I'd avoid the "cigalikes" or ecigs entirely. If not comfortable yet with a larger advanced personal vaporizer, choose an eGo battery setup which will be a compromise of battery life and physical size, about the size of a long cigar.

A Good Starter Setup for a Beginning Vaper

Vaping is not exactly like smoking. It is a different lifestyle with different expectations. We are extremely dependent upon batteries, and the larger the better the performance in most cases. You can't really expect a cigarette size battery to perform to reasonable expectations. Get over the "size factor", the sooner the better.

Ask a hundred vapers this question and you'll get a hundred answers. The real answer is "whatever works for you"; everyone is different.

That said, my best advice depends on how much you smoke now. If it's just a few cigs a day, like half a pack, a cig-a-like would probably be enough. If you're a pack-a-day or more smoker, Id skip them and go for something bigger. I smoked 1.5 packs a day & started on the Joye 510... it worked, but the battery life (or lack thereof) was really frustrating. My first upgrade was a few months later to the eGo, and that served me well for quite some time. If I didn't like to tinker and fiddle with stuff, I could probably have stayed there forever.

If you smoke a lot, you're gonna want something eGo sized or better. Other than that, it's personal preference & you may have to try more than one particular model before you hit the "sweet spot". Don't forget that there are also different types of cartos, tanks, juices, etc., which can really change the experience in and of themselves, so DON'T GIVE UP if the first one you try just isn't "cutting it". Keep trying, and you'll find your zone.

Hi Louis2413

There are some very bad e-cigs out there for a lot of money. There are some very good ones for not very much as well.

Most people who go it alone get stung. I got stung for $800 and now try to help other people. Avoid the big "brands" and shop at an independent store is the first recommendation. If it looks like a brand - be very, very careful.

- - -

a "brand" is a one-stop online store that sells items the rest of us can buy for 20%-200% LESS than the same item with a logo on the side. The most highly reviewed brand in the US, for example sells a $40 e-cig for $119.99. The reviews are a mixture of fake and unsuspecting newbies. There are now over 200 fake review sites in the US to promote these stores.
In fact - the #1 online vaping magazine is also being bribed by these brands.

It's all about the money now. Sad, really.
