Hi everyone

I kindly request some help please regarding which mod to buy for sub ohm vaping?

I have been using a pro vari mini and a genesis style RBA (Cobra) for some time now. I build coils around the 1.5 - 1.8 Ohm mark and vape that at around 4 to 5 volts, depending on the juice. Recently I have moved to building micro coils and using cotton as a wick - I love the new set up but I want more :p

In the mail is a new RBA - Specifically a Kayfun 3.1 and I would like to use this to try out sub ohm vaping, specifically at around 0.5 Ohms. I plan to use 18650 AW 1600 mAh or Orbtronic 2000 mAh SX22 batteries - Through research both are ok at 0.5 Ohms, but the Orbtronic has higher capacity, so perhaps better? Also is 18650 sized batteries the best set up? I hate overly large mods as well.

I would like a high end mod capable to lasting an evening of moderate vaping.

Thanks all in advance :D

Phil

Any mech mod will fit your requirements, it's just a matter of personal preference.
A Nemesis (or clone) would be my first recommendation.
I'm vaping on a brass Nemmy clone with a dual coil kraken genesis atty at .67 as I type this.
I also would recommend a better battery.
The Sony vtc series of 18650 batteries are excellent.
I personally like the kayfun atomizers at .8 to 1.0 ohms.
Seems to really give up the flavor as well as a decent cloud at that build.

Thanks for the info Bad Ninja. Sounds like your set up will makes some nice clouds :)

I will go look those batteries up - are they better than AW's ? I would like a mod where you can lock the fire button, and other things like telescope for batteries are just a plus not a necessity.

These batteries ? http://www.orbtronic.com/sony-18650-2600mah-vtc5-30a-high-drain-hybrid-imr-li-ion-battery

Any mech without spring in it, keep it simple. For regulated, get 20 watter and above that will fire sub ohms. Btw, Kayfuns , IMHO are not great for lower ohms vaping. Get nice dripper for that.

Cheers for the info Porkchopbun. How would I be able to ascertain if a mod does not have a spring? Also RE batteries can you have button and flat top batteries ? Finally, could you recommend a decent dripper ?

Thanks !

Every mechanical mod I own has a spring and I sub ohm vape on all of them.

What he meant to say was a "hot" spring, meaning a spring is used as a contact.
This is how the switch contact in many Side button mechanicals are made.
The springs can get hot and fail.

Bottom button mechs are fine. Most mechs are bottom button.

Sony 18650 vtc4 is a better battery IMHO than any AW.

+1 for Sony VTC4 (or VTC5 if you can find them in stock)
Last me all day at work. Vape all the way there, on my breaks and all the way home with vape time to spare.
I have one in a mixed SS/Brass Nemesis (clone) with a Kayfun Lite Plus micro coil built to .7 I prefer the KFL+ at above .5 though. IMO, there is not enough airflow for builds that low. Plus, you could burn out your insulator like I have done in the past:facepalm:

As far as the mod goes, depends on what you are looking to spend. Nemesis clones are abundant and an inexpensive way to test the waters with mechs. My nemmy clone has served me well, like my Turtle Ship a lot more though.

^yeah, I love the turtleship.. the floating pin keeps me sane. Just got a v2 clone by infinite for $30..way better than tobeco v1 I paid way too much for at a shop.

Authentic.. you'd have to get that from someone else. I have a 4nine that will be here Saturday...on the list for a gus kiss too..downhill spiral..

I can get a full day.. sometimes my days are 24 hours.. with two 18500's.

Vtc5 are the best performing 18650 batteries.

Thanks for the additional info guys - seems that the VTC 5's are the batteries of choice. I am trying to source them now - seems like they are out of stock though and i will not go via E Bay for them.

I will spend some time looking at different mods. I welcome all Mod suggestions to help me choose :) I plan to buy soon though as it needs to be posted to my Dads in the UK, as i live in Thailand and you cant trust the post there...he will be visiting May 10 for my weeding :)

Thx B Ninja, yeah any where there is contact.....some of Pinoy mods had them in 510 connections and my magneto has it in center tube where negative battery connects

I agree with Ninja about the KF sweet spot. I can only speak of the KF types because aside from RDA's, it's all I have. (got a genny on the way though :D)

I have built my KFL+ to .5-.6 range and didn't burn out the insulator, but I did feel the need to drill out the hole a bit. Vape was super warm, maybe too warm for some. It definitely runs best, IMO of course, in that .7-1.0 range. (with mechs)

I would pick up some of those extra insulators either way, you know just in case lol. My KFL+ does leak a little bit but not enough to be a big bother. Did you decide on a mod yet?

Lastly, congrats on the wedding! :toast:

Hi numbskull

Thanks for the congrats :)

I decided to go for a custom nemmie clone - SS with Copper Rings: Custom Nemesis

I am now in two minds if I should just go with the KFL+ and build 0.8 ish or buy another atty for 0.5 builds. Like I mentioned the post is not trustworthy in Thailand, so If I don't buy an alternate now then I aint getting one.

I also need to mix my juice different to cool the vape, I will be reducing my PG from 80% to either 40 or 30% - and if i can source it, also adding Saline at around the 4% mark. What ratio's are you mixing / using for your 0.7 build??

How did you drill the KFL+ ? It has adjustable airflow..

Sub ohm just means resistance below 1.0 ohms.
You can build a taifun, kayfun, or genesis atty like the rsst below 1.0.
A kayfun is sweet at.8-1.0.

I'm rockin a dual coil Kraken at .67 as I type this.

I like the look of the Kraken - can you drill that out? How hot is the vape? What PG% do you vape at?

What is the difference in real life vaping between a dual coil builds at 0.7 and one at 0.5 ohms??
