I have Meguairs tech wax, brasso and mothers wax mag alu.

I've yet to try them but I used the meguairs on my protege and it protected it very well from scratches. I think I should have had some deep scratches.

Feel free to post online places to buy to help out other vapers.

Personally, I'm more interested in protection over shine.
What wax is best to protect the S6 finish the best?

Well the Protege is Stainless Steel and the S6 is Aluminum...

I have an original Prodigy V1 that's aluminum. I stripped the paint and used mothers to polish it. It gets a lot of carry and the mirror finish goes away and leaves a nice brushed look. It's easy to get the mirror back but is not as scratch proof and durable / hard as the stainless.

Not sure what you mean as far as protection.
Nothings going to prevent it from getting scratched if it's a hard hit. It's aluminum....
If you use and handle it, I can't imagine it oxidizing.
Just use silver conducting grease on the threads and internal connection points and wipe it down with a clean cloth..

I'm a Meguiar's guy with all my car stuff but I use Mother's mag wheel polish on the S6. Why? Because that's what I had in the garage. =)

Brock is right. Nothing is going to 'protect' aluminum or stainless from scratching on a drop. But if you use a microfiber cloth when polishing the S6 those fine scratches and smears disappear. Handling any piece of metal, given the skin oils in our fingers and hands, (not to mention traces of e-liquid and whatever we're eating that day <g>) presents an on-going maintenance of our PVs. It is what it is. Just have to stay on top of it as best as we can.

If you have a Super Six with brass parts, you may want to try Cape Cod polishing cloths. I picked them up at Ace Hardware. They are expensive, but so is your PV. They are soaked in polish and come with a pair of gloves. This product can be used on silver, gold, brass, copper, nickel, pewter, aluminum, and stainless steel. It means a bit less of a mess when working with smaller objects. It is made in Dennis, MA.

I'm a heavy vaper. I used my T1--all aluminum, no brass--exclusively for 9-months, and all I ever did was give it a wipe once a day and wash it once a week with mild soap and water. It looked great. I didn't polish it.

I am wondering if these polishing compounds are working against us by making the surface more porous and open to handprints and dirt. I know it's that way with porcelain and ceramic sinks. Using abrasive cleansers on them can quickly turn them into maintenance nightmares, but I don't know if the same holds true for metals. I'm also wondering if the polishing compound is leaving a thin film that is prone to show finger indentations and blemishes???

I use this stuff called Primo polish you rub just a very small amount of it on work it in it dries real quick on whatever you put it on it dries to a wax like haze coat then just wipe it off and buff with soft cloth (This stuff is awsome) But I can't find it anymore I searched the net like crazy. I had it for well over 5 years if anybody does find it please let me know as I want more of it best stuff ever and I want to get more of it. It has a green label in a round white container aprox 2 inches deep aprox 3 1/2 inches across green says Multi purpose cleaner then under that Primo Polish Cleans, Refinishes, polishes& protects all in one easy step. Then writeing all arond the outside in a circle it says it works on silver ,chrome, gold, brass, coper, formica, aluminum, stainles steel, alloy wheles, guitars, pocket kinives, fishing tackle, sail boats

If anybody finds this stuff let me know where and I will buy you one! This stuff I been useing it for years and is the best stuff I have ever used on many things the jar is half full over the years it dries out when it does I add a little water too it and just frigging is a awsome product. Can't understand why it the world I cant find it anywhere as good as it works on everything I put it on.

Sorry for the long post!

It's not like I polish it everyday but mine came with the satin finish and I wanted to see what it looked like with the supershine. It can be kinda blinding at times in direct sunlight on sunny days but if I ever get stranded on a deserted tropical island I will be able to send S.O.S signals:lol:

I wish I had known this before I spent 40.00 on silver conduction greast that Super T recommended. This is just for the where the switch connects and the body that is passes through. Are you saying I don't have to use this.

You can use your Super 6 without it but in my opinion you should still use it but.Now you don't have to use $40.00 silver conductive greese. You can go to any computer or electronic store and get thermal compound it's just another name for the silver conductive greese. It is mainly used when installing vidio cards and processors on computers. It can be found for $15.00 all day long. Give me a few minutes I will post some links of where you can purchase at a lower cost. And remember a little goes a long way.

We were talking about polishes and cleaners for the Super 6.

Linls for thermal compound /silver conductive greese $9.00 This is what I use for computers it is supposed to be one of the best.

Newegg.com - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - Thermal Compound / Grease

This is new stuff on the market but I have not tried it myself as I have very High tec and expeincive computers and use what I know works. This does not have any silver it it but reviews are very good it is new technoligy and new to the market OCZ Freeze Extreme Thermal Conductivity Compound Thermal paste

$9.00 Artic silver Amazon.com: Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound, 3.5 Grams: Electronics

Beleive it or not the price has droped drasticly on thermal compound.

Hey Jeff
I am confused on this one.
This looks to be a non-conductiive thermal lube, or am I missing something.
I thought we were more concerned with having a silver conductive lube, for our application as it would help maintain the best electrical flow.

Help???

Thanks
Bob

yeah that freeze extreme doesnt say anything about improved conductivity just thermal transfer..

As for the price of silver paste from grainger...the stuff is different prices from different places...that same $10 tube from newegg or amazon is about $25-30 from radio ahack if you ant the artic silver stuff..being that grainger isn't a computer place I've no doubt that it's more expensive than that..

Which one is non conductive? A easy way to explain this we all know that silver is very conductive what the artic silver/silver conductive greese does is fills in tiny poars in the metals on the surface of the 2 metals. The silver is in this super fine powder form then made into a paste the proper way to apply it is in a circular motion with a plastic sandwhich bag over your finger to prevent the oils and moisture ect from you skin to mix with the paste and useing the circular motion forces the silver powder peices into the tiny poars filling tiny poars up on the 2 surfaces.

Another example you have a negitive side and positive side of a batery take your car for example your negitive batery terminal is loose this causes your amps to rise when your amps rise it causes heat/thermal notice the simularities in heat and thermal and why they call it thermal conductive greese/paste. With a car you have ledd batery terminals and post which are very soft and when you tighten the terminal they squash together filling the tiny poars so to speak. See where im going with this the Super 6 is aluminum and you are makeing it more conductive aplying the thermal compound/greese for better conection better current flow and lower temps to you batery.

Whew this one almost confused me it almost as bad as trying to explain the difference between volts and amps......Don't ask!
Hope this makes a little sense out of it.

Jeff

Hey Jeff

I only opened the last link and read the technical details.
This is a copy from that link.

Technical Details

  • 99.9% pure micronized silver
  • Non-electrically conductive
  • Will not separate, run, migrate, or bleed
  • Thermal conductance: >350,000W/m2 degreesC (0.001 inch layer)
  • Easy to apply and remove
The part about "non-electrically conductive" is what concerned me, but I know absolutely nothing about this stuff and still could be missing the point.

Thanks
Bob

I do know this, if you put too much conductive grease on, it can impede the electrical flow, just a very micro layer (put it on and essentially wipe it off, leaving only a micro layer) If its gobbed on, it's not so good:)

Yes a little goes a long ways and best to not use your finger to rub it in as this stuff can act funny and not work as it should if you get the slightest bit of oil or moisture from your skin on it or glob it on. Thats why every time I seat a processor or a vidiocard in a laptop I use the sandwich baggie technique. The idea is not to cover it with the stuff but rub it in to the metals surface.
