Why are my batteries dropping so fast?

I currently have a sigelei 150w using Samsung inr18650 batteries. I usually use the kanger subtank and I am able to vape all day on two batteries. I recently tried an authentic magma. The problem I'm having is when I use the magma my battery percentage goes down 1-2 percent every time I hit the fire button. I started out with a duel coil at .5 ohm. I thought that might be normal for duel coil so I built a single and that was at .7 ohm. Still same result. I was vaping the duel .5 coil at about 30w and the single at about 20w. Is this normal for rba's to hog all this power? I also noticed this morning that the two batteries I was charging overnight did not charge( the same batteries I was using with the magma) I use a nitecore d4 charger. Pretty sure it's not the batteries as both pair had the same result. Please help. Thank you!

It's a NiteCore - it could be the charger. Not sure what you meant by "I also noticed this morning that the two batteries I was charging overnight did not charge" - what happened? The d2 and the d4 are developing a reputation of not fully charging batteries from reports coming in. You are going to have to check those batteries with a meter to know what's going on with that charger.

I usually put two batteries on the charger before I go to bed and when I wake up the charge is complete. That was not the case this morning, charging was still in progress. I took them out and put them right back In and within an hour or two the charge was complete. The real question is why I lose 1-2 percent of battery life with every fire on the rba and I can fire 20 times with the sub tank before I lose a percent. Same .5 ohm build... Is it normal for rba's to do that to the battery or did I have bad builds in my rba?

Hi Dan and welcome to ECF!

Have you checked the build on the Magma with an ohm meter?

Happy Vaping!

First, atty resistance in a variable wattage mod has very little influence on how long your batteries are going to last, this is all about the watts. 30 watts at 2.0 ohms or at 0.2 ohms will both draw 30 watts + power regulator loss from the battery. The regulator's output voltage (not the battery voltage) will be different for different atty resistances though and regulator efficiency will be a bit different at different voltages, but that's on the order of +-5%.

Having a look at the Steam Engine battery drain calculator, using 'Power (wattage) setting' on the left side at 30 watts, 'Battery capacity' on the right side set to 2500mAh and making the 'Nominal voltage and C rating' 7.4V for 2 times 3.7V (you run 2 batteries), gives an estimated run time of 33 minutes, which is 400 five second puffs. You will not run the batteries all the way down to empty so you will not get quite that much time, but you get the idea.

Change the watts to 20 and you get 50 minutes run time, or 600 five second puffs. This makes sense compared to 400 puffs because 20 watts is 1/3 less power than 30 watts.

I also noticed this morning that the two batteries I was charging overnight did not charge( the same batteries I was using with the magma) I use a nitecore d4 charger. Pretty sure it's not the batteries as both pair had the same result. Please help. Thank you!

The Nitecore can be quite slow. Here's a review of it. It all depends on the mA it is charging at and you have the display to see what it's doing. Also, the more discharged the batteries are the longer it will take to charge them.
