Why Are Some Contests Not Open To New Members?

I think I saw someone ask something similar but I cannot find the thread, so please forgive me if I'm posting this twice. There was a really cool contest today for an Evic 60w but, alas, "I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PRIVILEGES TO ENTER." While I can understand the need to gradually introduce new members to the forum by closely reviewing their first few posts, I am not sure I can understand the reasoning behind keeping them from joining a contest where the rest of the members are able to participate. Definitely not impressed

hi @rahmmie , It only takes 5 posts/replies to become a full member, and you now have 5. Your avatar even says full member so you can now post in the main contest thread. I have these other links for contests too :

Some of the contests are really easy to enter, some you have to post pics and other stuff. The page gets updated whenever a new contest comes along so you might want to "watch thread" to save it to your quick links in the gray bar above.

When I created this thread I became I full member, but I have to wait for the "official" email (the system shows me as a full member but I still can't post as one. According to the FAQ, it can take a few hours). Still, for people who may have been lurking forever but never joined or totally new people who joined because a contest they are totally into, it seems kinda harsh

The forum usually resets/updates at half past the hour. The reason it is this way is to keep "spammers" from abusing the forum, which makes it easier to help new vapers/members. I know it's a pain, but it really works for everyone.
