Why are there no SS Coils for TFV8 Baby?

This might sound really weird to you guys, but I basically see a lot of people running around with a TFV8 Baby tank. Personally I switched from a TFV4 on my Guardian III to a TFV8 Baby Beast, and I bought a new SMOK G PRIV 220 with a TFV8 Big Baby. They're the easiest to get around here, easiest to get coils for, online buying is illegal, and since the SMOK devices are the most interesting given my high-tech tastes I'm not really looking at other tanks.

Now the only thing that irks me is that I'd like to ease into TC without having to get an RBA and build my coils myself. I'll probably start doing that at some point in time, but not at the moment. Problem is that other than building it yourself, there doesn't seem to be any SS coils for the TFV8, all Kanthal. Is there a reason for this?

It seems to me that SS ought to be the material of choice for mod coils as a lot of mods have TC available and SS will work both in TC and wattage mode, or so I've read.

So is there any good reason everything uses Kanthal and I can't find any prebuilt SS coils for this omnipresent tank? Is it cost, is Kanthal a lot better for Wattage mode, what is it?

This was some time ago but I remember seeing coils for the TFV8 Cloud Beast in SS and even had them in claptons but I haven't seen any for the baby beast, but I don't use tanks, just all RDA's and I build my own coils so I really don't pay attention to prebuilt coil heads. Another reason why I don't use prebuilt coil heads is cause they pack the cotton in those stinking coil heads so stinking tight it takes forever to break in the cotton. Just my opinion anyways.

I know this doesn't answer your question but I know they did make them so SMOK may have some somewhere for the baby beast.

It is indeed strange that kanthal/nichrome is still the go to material for prebuilt coil heads, and not only for Smok. Seeing as almost all new mods can do tc with ss, stainless steel really should be the primary choice for manufacturers.

They probably figure that as their market is cloudz, users are all using wattage ("Hey watch this cloud at 150W!") and not TC users. Shortsighted in my mind, but it's their business and their market as they see it. If you bought the BBB as a tank only, it should have come with an RBA and proper size glass, so you wouldn't have to buy it (maybe it came with a kit and didn't include one?).

Some say that stainless tastes different and they don't like the flavor. I think they're nuts but maybe Smok agrees with them.

Idk about what you think or anybody else here for that matter but personally I think SS has the most pure flavor than any of the other wires we use.

Yeah, I got the big baby with the g priv and I bought a baby for my guardian III, but none had an rba included. Might buy one though, but I'm kind of iffy about dry burning as it might compromise the integrity of the wire. That's why I've been loath to try my hand on rba's for the moment. Need more research.

The only wires you don't dry burn are titanium and nickel. Any other wire is able to be dry burned. As a matter of fact I only use SS and Ni80 and I dry burn both kinds of wire just to make sure I don't have any hot spots and after vaping on the coils for a couple days (2-4) depending on what flavors I'm using and if they have a high percentage of sweetener. I will take the cotton out, dry burn the coils to get rid of the build up of juice on them then quench them wife filtered water and rewick. A dual coil build can last me a month or more. The longest I've ever kept a set of coils in a RDA is probably around 2-2 1/2 months. Just rewick every few days give or take a day or 2.

Thanks for the advice! I've heard you can also reuse prebuilts if they're not burned by rinsing them thoroughly with water and letting them dry. Do you think that's a good idea?

No worries @Digress.

Yeah for sure. You would do it the same way I do my coils just but dry firing and quenching to remove whatever build up is on the coils then after dry firing and quenching just tap the fire button to fire the coils which will dry them. Only tap the button until u don't hear any boiling water on the coils then give it a min to cool down. I don't even wait to dry, I go ahead an wick, juice then vape.

Just checked to be sure and the Smok TFV8 Big Baby Beast comes with the RBA deck Includes V8 Baby RBA Head which has dual SS coils. The coils are .40 ohm total, .80 ohms each which is hard to find in prebuilt coils. I burned the coils to look for hot spots, after use I cleaned them by burning which works good.
No need to have that exact resistance on the RBA heads. But, RBA heads or not, Smok still doesn't offer any prebuilt ss coil heads.

I have the G-Priv and Pico 25 vaporizers, the Smok is pretty good at accepting SS coils but the Pico 25 is more picky at accepting SS coils and it has to be around .24 ohms or it goes to watts mode. I got a Daedalus for making SS Clapton coils. I make e liquid and coils but think I'm in the minority since most people I know buy atomizers and liquid.
