What's the point of having the hole in the connector if it's a manual battery? I'm thinking it's a money saving thing. They don't want to remake connectors that are sealed when they can just use the ones with the hole. I have a pretty new manual battery for a 401 that just stopped working and I'm guessing it got full of liquid that killed the switch and would not have happened had the end been sealed. I'm thinking on my next one I'm going to seal it myself with a drop of solder. Thoughts?

the 401 needs that hole to work properly. i personally tried sealing one myself and u will find that there is no draw at all if u do. basically i destroyed a good battery testing this for myself. its in the air flow design of the m4 series that needs that hole. i know it sucks as most like a sealed manual battery. if u wanna know more feel free to pm or email me .

I figured that might be the case but on a 401 I thought the air entered through the 4 little slots around the base of the atty.

Actually, now that I look at it, even with the slots around the atty the hole in the center of the atty would be blocked if the battery was sealed so I see what your saying there shawn.
