Forgive me if this has been answered a billion times..I di a few searches and I know where to find the setting to add it on the left pane under Settings at the top. And I also read that you have to have 15 posts before you can add a signature, but this'll be my 16th post and I'm still unable to add a signature. Did my search, pull up old information, or is there something I'm missing? I really want to add my quit smoking since sig! Thanks!

Well a mod can go ahead and delete this, DOH! :p

EDIT: Either it took a second for the server to update, or you need 16 posts. Nice one me..nice haha

You see all that spam here? No?

Not so silly. The initial post count restrictions have much to do with that.
I'm just spamming the newbie forum to get my 15 posts :). So in a way it's causing spam behaviour in its users.

It should be possible to block spam bots and alike without the postcount restrictions.

I don't even care that much about it. I'll just keep spamming in the newbie forum until I can post normally.

Yeah, we don't like spam. Spam bots are easier to block. Unfortunately, people running those spam bots have figured out to first get a person started then release the spam bot. It is better to keep them contained in one area instead of having to go throughout the forum looking for them.

I hope you never have to encounter an attack from one, it is messy and they have filled pages and pages with crap until someone was awake to clean up the mess. If they had been free to roam the forum? O.M.G.! I shudder to think of what the forum would look like.

The five post rule is not that difficult honestly. Hell, I was upset when I could no longer start a thread in the New Members section. More vets roam here than you think. We have great members that are always on the lookout for people to help. We all remember what it was like to be new to the forum and to vaping.

There are also "signature spammers" who make a semi-literate post, but the site they REALLY want you to visit is in their signature. There are profile spammers, signature spammers, forum spammers, etc., all trying to get you to go to the site they're shilling. So while on the surface, our restrictions seem overly harsh, in reality, they're just one of several necessary lines of defense we have to maintain to keep this site spam free.
