Why do ejuice vendors sell ejuice with flavor shots?

I dont understand this concept and its causes confusion for a new vapor like me.
I ordered 4 bottles of juice from Mt. Baker Vapor and had no clue what to order.
Based on their recommendations, I chose 0 extra shots and of course NO FLAVOR!

But my question is why do they even bother? To save themselves $$?
Sure now what I wasted my money on 4 bottles, next time I know to order it with 2-3 extra shots but it cost me a miserable experience to learn that.
Every other place I bought from its just the nicotine level you choose but some places like MBV and EC Blends for instance force you to choose.
I wish they would just say, "normal" flavoring and "extra."
Why the heck am I choosing flavors on a scale of 1 to 5...this vaping stuff is confusing as it is.

I put my first order in with them with no extra shots, and I can say one of the flavors was right on with none, but the other definitaly could have used more flavor, But to each his own, really its great i think that you can specify exactly what you want. I recieved 5 more flavors from them in a mix up, and a few of these are not what I would've ever ordered but are a very nice flavor with an 1-2 extra shots and 70%vg - 30% water. Not overpowering, but not bland either. I did try some other stuff I got in town and had way to much flavor, sickening amounts, tasted and smelled like perfume, that all got dumped, even Mt Bakers 2 shot stuff is nothing like that crap was.

It's like those made for tv products, Where you get 6 more for free, but have to pay additional shipping and processing, which cost more than the product itself. To have a low price on the face of it, but make it up with extras. If they don't sell a product that doesn't need extra flavor, they are dishonest, or don't make a good product to begin with. It would be like Halo saying their juice isn't quite right, but you can pay more to have it made like it should be. Just doesn't happen with the top tier vendors.

the juice also needs time to steep a bit to bring out the full flavor im sure its pretty fresh.

shots are extra flavor some people like the flavors much stronger.
If they don't sell a product that doesn't need extra flavor, they are dishonest, or don't make a good product to begin with
and what happens if they double it then 50% of the people say its too strong? they wont come back either.

it is easier to order it once say the flavor is too light, order another at 4x strength and just mix them together for 2x in each bottle.

No one is trying to confuse you.

First, the stuff from MBV is mixed at the time of your order. Did you make that assessment trying it the day you got it? The flavor can intensify in a matter of days.

Second, a customization feature is not a bad thing. Everyone has a different tongue with different numbers of taste buds responding to sweet and sour etc. What might taste great to one person as a sweet flavor may be overwhelming to the next person. That, and the PG/VG ratio you prefer can impact flavor intensity. People using high VG liquids may need added flavor to compensate, while a high PG user won't like that.

This isn't a scheme to rip anyone off. It's custom features to get you exactly what you prefer.

That's exactly what I was trying to say, just better explained. Everything I ordered from them has the date made, pg-vg ratios , and nic mg printed right on the label. Very nice! If nothing else call em and ask, I'm sure they'd help you out with what your looking for.

I try to stay away from the custom made juices. I've had too many bad experiences. Even mbv, I got about 6 juices from them and only one or two are okay. I've had them about 6 weeks now and the two I really wanted still taste funny and not right.

When I bought from mbv I ordered a variety of pg vg blends wih various flavor shots. I just don't like the vendor overall.

And to add to this dead-on post...

As you become more experienced with different devices and "Toppers", you can further fine tune your juices to match. What tastes full-flavored in a CE4 clearo on a eGo will taste different in a pro-tank on a MVP 2.0, and different yet in a carto-tank... the flavor is richer so you may not want the 3X flavor shots but instead 1X shot would be the sweet spot... If you start experimenting with higher wattage devices or mechanicals (and don't say you won't) with RDA's and micro-coils... the juice with no extra shots will probably be just fine. It is actually just a different level of customer service they offer, but you just need to experiment and gain the knowledge as you progress through your journey!
It's always recommended that if you never tried a vendor's juice, or if you're completely new at this, you should just order the sample-packs for experimenting and see if it's what you're looking for.

Oh... and welcome to ECF!

I have ordered 8 bottles of juice from MBV all with 2 extra shots 65/35 and for me The flavors come through just fine. 15ml bottles are only $4.99 so to add a couple extra shot still makes the price cheap. For a 15ml bot for $6.00 you just can't go wrong there. Any order over $15 they through in a free 15ml bottle of juice of your choice if you request a flavor. I have had only good experiences so far with this vendor. There are so many to chose from just shop around until you find your favorite one and use them. Happy Vaping!!

MBV is a very highly respected vendor for many reasons.

There are so many pg/vg/nic variations that it seems ignorant and presumptuous, and maybe even a bit arrogant to offer only one flavor option. I know of vendors that don't let you control anything about the juice...not even the nic. I won't order from them.

I use MBV almost exclusively because of the ability to tweak the juices to suit my tastes and mix.

OP - if you're ordering all over the map with regard to the mix, then I don't think it's really fair to blame the vendor when it's more likely that you just don't know what you like yet.

I recommend that you figure out what kind of PG/VG ratio you like first, then start tweaking the flavors until you find what you like.

My 80% vg 20 pg mixes are great with 2 flavor shots. When I have got them 50/50 I might use 1 or none.

It's a marathon, not a sprint.

2 out of 6? Sounds like a better success ratio that I've had in almost a year of vaping. I'd say maybe 10% of all the juice I've tried I would buy again. And yes, I am not talking about 'budget' vendors either.

MBV is not trying to rip anyone off, if you chat online with one of their mixers or even call or email them, you'll find their customer service is outstanding. I vape one MBV juice regularly. The rest I have tried have not been for me, but I certainly don't hold it against them for offering more choice rather than less.

Saying that, you are allowed to not like them - everyone will eventually find their juice supplier of choice.

I think they do it because people that are new to vaping have dead taste buds. They want extra flavor because they can't taste anything.

The longer you vape the less flavor you'll probably want. When I started vaping I couldn't taste much at all. I had to vape things like atomic cyanide. Now if I buy premade liquid I actually have to dilute the flavor.

This is the exact reason I got into DIY. My 1st batch I made I planned on going heavy on the flavor, ended up putting even more in by accident, and I love it. I was actually considering an order from MBV, but decided to spend $42 on DIY, and now have enough raw material to make almost 400 mL of juice w/ 9 diff flavors. Even if you wanna just by extra flavoring to drip into juice you already have, the little bottles aren't much more than $1.

MBV has some of the best customer service and fastest shipping in this industry. You get confused about the options or don't like the flavors, then that's your issue. Not the company's. And threads like this do a diservice to any reputable vendor, whether it's MBV, HHV, Alice in Vapeland or any of the dozens of other good vendors of liquid out there. They all have their own different business practices, and they've earned their reputations.

As for me, MBV has been my go to company for over year. I've tried a dozen different non-tobacco menthols, as well as other flavors, and MBV is the only one that agrees with my palette.

Good luck on finding something you do like.
