Just curious. Why do juices need to be steeped in the dark?? I can understand having the bottle open but what difference does it make to steep in the dark??

Also, light can degrade nicotine. Particularly direct sun. How much....that's another question. But you pay for the nic, so you want to keep it.
Sunlight (possibly ultraviolet light specifically) can break down the chemical bonds of flavoring agents. Prolonged exposure to oxygen can cause nicotine to turn dark, but to my knowledge doesn't affect it's potency. Heat can also degrade the potency of nicotine, so I've never been a proponent to use heat to speed up the steeping process.
It's just better to keep your juices in the dark whenever possible, since sunlight can degrade both the nic and the flavorings.

I've never steeped or stored juice in the dark. I do not store juice in sunlight. I tend not to have juice for more than 6 months, but I do have some nic base in the freezer in glass bottles which I think will survive to a ripe old age.
Here's an experiment done by Madvapes on nic concentration over time with various storage options. The ones they say they kept on the 'Window Sill' were in sunlight during the day. From this data, IMO it doesn't matter what you do with juice for a coupe of weeks, it takes way longer than that to degrade nic.
I would imagine that for flavorings it all depends on the flavoring. I store mine in closed bottles out of direct sunlight (but not in the dark). I've had some for 6 months and had no issues with them, but that's not a scientific test. It doesn't worry me enough to do any more research into it.

Using amber or cobalt blue bottles will HELP keep out light...

Well, speaking for the "just has to be correct" department, I'd have to say 10% loss in 4 months is not insignificant since you pay for the nicotine. However, it is nothing to lose sleep over either. So I agree with you. Yet, if I steep...it is in a dark cupboard.
