Because more experienced vapors prefer a manual battery?

I get that while making the tranformation from smoking to vaping you want a battery which looks like, acts like, feels like, and even vapes like a cigarette does. Therefore, there are so-called automatic cigalike batteries available. Smokeless Image Volt Automatic Battery

Once you have become more experienced with vaping, you'll soon enough learn that those automatic cigalikes are lacking in performance and battery time. Trust me on this. You'll soon decide you don't care so much how the cigalike looks, but desire a bigger & better battery for additional battery time and better vaping performance. This can only come from a bigger manual battery. Performance > form factor. The technology involved with "automatic" batteries leaves much to be desired, and with limited demand for them, the technology stalled due to lack of interest and demand.

With cig-a-likes you just suck and it goes, with my device for example you have to hold down a button and I don't understand why they don't just have a automatic activation?

Auto batteries have a number of drawbacks in comparison to manuals:

1. Auto batteries cannot heat the eliquid nearly as well or as efficiently as manuals
2. Auto batteries have a cut-off (some as little as 5 seconds) that shuts the battery down.
3. Auto batteries have to be open (not sealed like manuals) to the atty/clearo/carto to work, which eventually allows eliquid to leak into the battery compartment and gum up the switch making it useless.

Plain and simple, they don't work nearly as well as manuals.

I was surprised when I got my first battery that I had to push a button as well. But what's the big deal? You just push a button. From what I understand the automatic ecigs can spontaneously activate due to sound or other factors and if that little circuit or whatever it is that triggers it to work ever breaks you're out of luck. Since your battery is interchangeable with all sorts of tanks how would that work? the battery would have to be operating constantly waiting for you to trigger the circuit in your tank. If you notice, the button is on the battery itself, not the tank. Although my ego-c twist 8 second shut off is REALLY annoying to say the least. My cheaper evod batteries have nearly an 11 second shut off.

I have about 50 or more Fling Minis that I have no use for now that I have six real tanks if your interested in them. Not sure I can actually offer anything for sale here so I'm just being rhetorical.

Thanks for the offer but tbh I have no use for them either: I got a tank device to. It’s not amazing but it’ll made do.

Which tank device do you have out of interest?

Good question. IMO there is no good reason someone could not design a good version of auto activation, but AFAIK it has yet to be done. Things are changing so fast in this market though who knows what will come out tomorrow.

I love auto batteries, hands free vaping is so nice. Doesn't matter how experienced you are, everyone has preferences. Being able to pick up my device and inhale is definitely one of mine.

The SD Keyring Maxi is one of my favorites. 3.75 regulated under load and automatic, stealthy and looks great.

Actually a small handfull of the automatic switches are quite good now.

I would not want a heavy unit to be automatic. The only things I can see as automatic are devices that are light enough for have a form that is workable for hands free operation.

The things I use at a desk for myself would never want it to be an automatic. I reserve automatics for those situations where it is the only good option. It saves wear on tear on an automatic to only use it when doing something where it makes sense.

Others might feel different. It is hard to put yourself in other peoples shoes and understand the lives they lead.

There are quality automatics on the market. It really comes down to what you want out of your device and what concessions you're willing to make so they last longer.

I have an Echo with a 510 adapter and an eGo-C atomizer. I drip all day on it. I also have an iSmoka, which is an eGo clone without the cone threads. I have a Terminator in a tank on that with a Kuwako bowl. I'm saving up to grab myself a prestige pipe, which is an automatic pipe mod.

There's no worry about air or noise activating an automatic anymore. That hasn't been an issue in 4 years, so unless you buy some cheap piece of .... that's been sitting in storage since 2009 it won't be an issue now.

The only real issue with automatics is leakage seeping into the battery. Don't store them upright or leave a tank on them overnight. Clean the threads once a week. Don't flood your atomizer.

But in the end, it's down to preference. An automatic has a slightly stiffer draw and a cooler vape than a comparable manual. These are both things I've found I prefer, through many months of trial and error. I've lost a few batteries due to user error, but the lessons learned have caused me to find what I like and what works for me.

And if you're looking for a quality cig-alike automatic, the best I've tried has been the Sidesho at Modern Vapor. It's pricey for what it is, and it's better to dip rather than drip, but it works very well. I've heard good things about the eRoll as well, but I'm not willing to try it out. I'm happy with what I have.

And wow, I'm a Veteran now. Do I get a prize?
