Why do the admins bash newbies instead of helping them?

Last month I wrote a thread about my experience with trying to join classifieds. The admins on this site bashed me for my thread. They Did not even write a helpful post and then closed my thread. What a welcome I received here. I thought this forum was about helping people. I guess not. I am a member of other e-cig forums and it is nothing like the experience I have faced here on my very first post to this site. I figured I give this site a try even though I've been told negative things about this site and of it's admins. However I am beginning to believe what I have been told. I have not received a welcome or anything as such. Only admins talking down to me as if I am stupid. Now I understand you are trying to run a clean site. My intentions are never to disrupt that. However disrespecting members and new member right off the bat is wrong. Members make this site what it is and if you are looking for respect you should give that same respect in return.

So, you're saying you want spam in the classifieds?

You have six posts total, including this one, and we know that another was starting a thread bashing the admins. Hmm.

I've had no issues. I think it's good here and I like to learn and help. Doesn't sound like you do, and maybe that's why you have issues.

That said, welcome to the forums. GLHF.

Wish dog please read carefully before responding. In addition you do not know enough details to judge. This post is about me asking for help and not being helped. Only being talked to as if I am stupid. However I was not able to contact admins because the site would not let me. This is where my problem starts. Always defense from people here. Never concerned about what the problem is and how they can help. What's with the defense?

Dnrtn Thank you for the Welcome. I was beginning to believe all people here were like the post above yours.

First off, a very sincere Welcome to ECF!

Don't take what the admin did personally. If you knew the trouble the Classifieds section was causing the admin, you would understand why they are so stringent about the rules and the protocol for participating in the Classies. There were quite a few incidents where members were being scammed, so ECF admin decided to make it a little tougher to buy/sell. It's to avoid scammers who want to do quick hit-and-runs.

First of all, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that you feel frustrated with how you've been treated.

I checked your posting history for the thread you mentioned, and I wasn't able to see how you were treated poorly. It seemed to me that they were only trying to explain to you the reasons for the rules re: posting in the classified section, not to disrespect or talk down to you. Perhaps you were reading something into those posts from the admins and mods that wasn't intended because of your own frustration with the situation. It happens.

At any rate, I hope you can let it go and move forward- you don't have to stay tied to a bad start here unless you want to.

Best of luck to you!

High number of members means nothing. Quality of members means everything. For example. There is a particular member on this forum that has sold me a bogus mod and swore up down that it wasn't. Despite that I still joined here. One bad apple doesn't always spoil the bunch. However if the Admins are talking down to a new member then Bad leadership makes for bad followers.

@NancyR please state the true facts. I stated the facts of my experience. And also stated however there was no way to contact the admins. Maybe this was because I was a newbie and was not allowed to contact them. I don't know. Bottom line is everyone has their 2cents but there 2 cents did not help the problem and the best thing they knew how to do was closed the threat.

To join the classified threads the rules state you need 1 of 5 options. I chose the PayPal option and was still denied access. I followed the rules. Everyone in the Thread I created ignore that part of my post.

Welcome to the forum. I'm only two or three weeks on here myself but I've had nothing but positive things to say about the site and its members. I don't know about your post to which you refer but perhaps there was some other issues.
Give the forum a chance and you will receive all the beginners help you need from loads of different members, i certainly did.

Well before you ever joined the 20 post requirement was in place and listed. I also remember all the posts that where deleted from that thread, others may not but I read them. So I am speaking facts, just because you don't want to follow rules is not the admins fault.

I'm the first to admit that getting noticed by the forum moderators kind of stings. It's frustrating and it's easy to personalize it when you get dinged for something. I've been there myself.

This being said, this is an amazing forum due to the fact that the moderators do work very hard to keep it clean. These are people who donate their time so that others may enjoy the company of thousands of like minded vapers. They may err on the side of caution from time to time but, if they did not, we would have a mess on our hands and a place that is not moderated. There are plenty of vaping sites to choose from if you want one of those. IMHO the other vaping sites put no time or effort into moderation and the results speak for themselves. Many of them are not places where I'd like to be.

My advice is to meet some people, move past the negative feelings and make the choice to participate or not to participate. If you are not happy here there are plenty of sites to choose from.

Eh?

I belong to a lot of different forums, including car and sports forums.

This forum, bar none, has been the most helpful, resourceful and community oriented forum I've been a member of in the last 12 years. On a daily basis here there are threads where members are stepping in and helping other people that are down on their luck. Not just with advice but sending actual items that someone can't find or can't afford.

You get back what you put in.
