Sometimes it just lights up sitting on the table. Usually happens after taking a hit and putting it down, sometimes it just lights up. It does not seem to be getting hot.

I have the same problem with an 801 I bought from Esmokeytreats. So... I went ahead and made my own ecig. It works great!

I just today, send Phil @e-smokey treats an e-mail about this. I have a red 801 penstyle, of his for about 3 weeks. I just noticed it last night, setting here on the desk with the LED on. The bad part is I had filled a cart up an hour or so earlier, mine did get hot, vaped all the juice & burned my atty up. The second battery out of the same kit is fine with a different atty, but this one is definitly toasted. Now the battery will not even charge either, the LED blinks in the charger, then it turns blue, (LED turns blue) & stays this on in the charger.

So far I have not heard anything back, except asking for my order number & the problem sent to another e-mail address. Can't figure out why they are asking this stuff as IF they read my first mail this was the info I included to begin with.

I had a new 801 battery that would spontaneously start flashing while lying on a table in a quiet room with no breeze. A few days later, it died. The LED would still light up on a draw or a blow from the other end but it had no power for the atomizer. The LED wouldn't flash when putting it into the charger and the charger light would stay green. It's returned RMA to the supplier who hasn't had any parts available for two weeks now.

Vandal996--the new batteries have mircophone switches that fire by sound and vibration unlike the old pressure switches that made the connection by the vaccum pressure of the draw--so these new batteries have been coming though way to sensitive---but the problem abates with use and age---IMO they are terrible---Sun

Sun is this in all new 801's or just certain suppliers? If you know, please post, as I am either ordering another 801 or 510, this might be a deciding factor for me as I don't want to ruin anymore atty's & batteries. PLUS this was my red 801! I loved the red one! Hope e-smokey treats has a red battery & atty in stock by the time I hear back from them as to what to do with these.

I need to go to bed now & pout....... sounds exactly like mine. Just checked & e-smokeytreats is out of all 801's kits, atty's & batteries. This RMA might take a while, but hey if he doesn't have them nothing he can do about it. I have gotten great customer service from Phil so far so I am not worried.

Different oems use different switches. Phil's are mechanical. Not the magnetic. The battery most likely got flooded w/ liquid and shorted the switch. I too have an 801 e-smokey. I've cooked both batts. Phil will make it right. Give him some time. Just think if you sold 1000's of these to new users, the nightmare of warranty issues.
I'm in the same boat your in. Email and order number. But as I'm sure you did, I did my research and went w/ e-smokey for a reason.
Btw I've got an be112, same as 801, has the sensitive switch but works well. Each oem and design has it pros and cons.........

1. Sometimes it just lights up sitting on the table.

Mine have done that from time to time. These things aren't swiss made. Blow in the hole and clear the liquid. That's solved the problem for me. Most of the time.

2. Usually happens after taking a hit and putting it down,

Probably after topping off or dripping. Liquid in the battery.

3. sometimes it just lights up. It does not seem to be getting hot.

If the battery still works and the led comes on....Power is going to the atomizer. That means the atomizer is heating.

I make it a practice to unscrew, slightly, the batt and atomizer. the batterys can trigger on there own sometimes.

Most likely you've flooded the battery w/ liquid... I've used compressed air to blow my batts out, when I've noticed this.

Have you been putting the cart in the atomizer in the correct postion?

The cart has indents that need to be in the correct postion. The problem is liquid been forced out the cart through the atomizer and into the battery.

Where did you get your 801??????

What position would that be? Details please. I find no orientation marks on my atomizers.

Ok I'll try... put the atomizer bridge in the north and south postion. Then put the indents in the cartridge in the east and west postion. then put it together. The indents in the cart force the liquid to extract onto the bridge. If the idents are touching the bridge, the liquid will go to the side of the bridge and flood the atomizer....

Thanks for posting this. I've been going nuts trying to figure out why my batteries were lighting up for no reason. I just changed my atomizer position, can't wait to see how well it works. In mine the atomizer bridge is kinda hard to see. Could be my old-age eyesight, though - or lack thereof. LOL

Thanks for the replys. The 801 is a stainless model that came from ECigCigar. It makes sense to me that the battery has some liquid in it. I will blow it out with compressed air. It did not seem like the atomizer was getting hot while it was doing this but I may have been mistaken. I have since lost an atomizer.
On a high note my new 401 arrived today. I hate waiting for new batterys to charge. I am dying to give this thing a smoke. It is no doubt the best looking ecig I have seen.
