I have to change my cotton often with my sweet juices and most of the time I notice this and sometimes it's only on one side. I assume it's burning, but never tastes burnt. Some may think it's because I'm using to much cotton (I like it a bit on the tight side) , but it will happen with less cotton as well.

That's pretty average for a gunking coil. Mine usually look worse before I think "maybe a new wick would improve this". The little more to one side is not something I'd worry about. And it's not really burning, it's the carmelization of juice in the wick thanks to flavorings and sweeteners.

Yep! I 100% agree with @Eskie...caramelization! Mine, like he also said about some of his, will many times look much worse than that coil does, for sure! My Peach Cobbler gunks up a wick and coil faster than any other eliquid I vape. But I love that eliquid, so I put up with having to rewick and dry burn about every 2-2.5 days if I'm constantly vaping it. :)

Hi Folks, thats is a process called "chelation" that happens when some juice with pyrones (Maltol, Ethyl Maltol) is heated in presence of iron. Is not unsafe. Is not caramelization. To get caramelization you need presence of saccharides like sugar, wich is very difficult to find in e-juices

If its brown, it is caramelization from heating the gycerin and sugars in the flavorings.

Chelation would occur in the bottle.

Chelation needs presence of iron, where you have liquid touching hot iron?

What happens when glycerine is heated?
What color does the caramelization leave?
What is main ingredient in ejuice?
What do most flavorings use as a sweetner?

If it waddles, quacks and has webbed feet and feathers its not a Hippo.
