I have been using an unused insulin needle to refill my carts but soon realised the problem the thickness of the liquid is to thick requiring alot of pressure. So i ordered a 17g 3ml syringe. The problem i am having is that when i am filling the syringe i get drops flowing out the end of the needle. waisting my liquid even if drop at a time? Is there a trick to this? I am adding menthol crystals after the flavorless e-liquid. At First I just held it with a finger to close the flow but adding flavorless and then menthol crystal is a pain. I ended up melting by flame( not advised as it was in interesting pyro thing) to make a cap out of some cheap pvc. Can a premade cap similar to insulin needles be included?

How are you "filling" the syringe? If you draw the liquid up into the syringe with the plunger it is impossible for it to drip as you describe. The vacuum created will prevent the liquid from flowing back out the needle.

As for needle caps, they don't come with the blunt needles because they are, well, blunt.

I do as Jaax says, and just pull the liquids into the syringe, but....it would be nice to have a source of 'caps.' Making bigger mixes, or mixing multiple fluids, you can cap the needle (or remove the needle and replace with cap), and fill from each liquids respective bottle, using it's own dropper to avoid any cross-contamination of fluids, using the syringe gradiatations just for measuring, minus the needle..

I'm still looking for somewhere that sells such caps, even for a 10ml syringe..

Try Revival Animal Health - if you buy some of the LL syringes with 1-1/2" needles (item #437-334), you should be able to use the cap on Jaaxx's syringes - as of when I bought both the syringes JuicyLiquid sells, they were Luer Lock and a match for the covers that come with these. If you're not using more than around 50% VG, they're handy for filling and refilling carts, too.

A question about your dripping problem: before you start to draw the liquid into the syringe, do you have the plunger completely down in the syringe? If not, try it that way.

Oh, heh, I think we have several meanings for 'caps.'

I think OP and I both want - 'when the needle is removed, blunt or not, a cap or plug that allows using the syringe sans needle as a measuring device.' I think jaax responded saying 'no *needle* cap because the needles are blunt.'

Two different caps, one for the syringe, the other for the *needle*.

@Rose - Yes, I start each fill from a plunger down position, it's not a *huge* deal, but would be convenient to use the syringe (especially larger ones) as a measuring device without the needle attached.

I haven't seen cases that safe-off needles when they're not attached to the syringe, since needles are sold for single use as a rule. But Revival does also sell caps for syringes.

I'll have a look around, but I think the only way to get the caps is attached to a needle.

And as far as a luer lock compatible device for capping the syringe without the needle... I've never seen one.

I never leave liquid sitting in a needle, but if I did I would just cap the needle and leave it attached. A poor man might use a pencil eraser?

I don't want to leave liquid in the needle, I just want to use a syringe as a measuring device, to then pour mixes into, with cap on the bottom, put contents directly into syringe, measured, from their native containers (PG, VG, 30ml unflavored, possible added flavor from a dropper), insert plunger, remove cap and dispense into my misc containers from there...something along those lines.

I'm afraid physics won't allow that to happen. If you have a cap on the syringe you will not be able to insert the plunger.

Heh, I must be explaining this poorly, really. The math is no problem, nor is mixing it.
I just would prefer to mix into the same thing sot dispense with, from the 'native' dropper from each liquid, versus a shared needle, that gets dipped in glycerin, pg, e-liquid, and flavorings.

I feel like I'm speaking in tongues :-( You had it right on the 'physics comment.' But, don't have a better way other than the 'shared needles,' as I don't have one needle per liquid I use for mixing.

Think I'm abandoning this thread now :)

Not so fast! I get what you're after now. Goes like this...

Remove plunger & cap the syringe

    Fill with ingredients

Put plunger back in just far enough to seal

Turn tip side up, remove cap, put on needle, expel air.

    Dispense.

    Try these Syringe Caps - 3pk [15SYRCAP] - $1.25 : JuicyLiquid.com, DIY E-Liquid and Accessories!

Yes! Thank you thank you thank you! :)

Wow, I actually *need* to wait until payday now. I feel po' :(

But, will definitely be getting some, thank you!
