Why I will always sit in smoking areas.

I have a tip to any adult. This may be commonsense to some, but it never occurred to me until recently. I rarely vape in public (at least not in view of people) but I always sit in the smoking area in restaurants or trains or anywhere that has one. and here is why. First off I could care less about second hand smoke. But more importantly and one thing I never thought of until sitting in a lot of nonsmoker areas, is nonsmoking areas are full of crying babies and kids screaming and running everywhere. I know I may sound like a grumpy man but it really sucks when you are eating or stuck on a train, smoking cars in trains are always empty (and kid free) same with smoking rooms in restaurants. So if you are tired of screaming babies everywhere sit in the smoking area (even if you do not smoke or vape). Well as I said that may be commonplace knowledge, but for those who never thought about it, smoking areas really are just adult only and it is so nice, even tho I will never vape or smoke in public I always sit in the smoking areas. This is why I hate state smoking bans because it rids me of my sanctuary from foolish mothers who bring crying babies in restaurants.

You have smoking sections where you live!?!?!?! All of ours were banned a year or 2 ago. The only smoking sections we have anymore are to go outside. I see your point though, I would still use them for vaping if they were available. At work I still go to the smoking areas outside during break since that's where all my friends go.

LoL, that's funny. When I was an analog smoker... and still now, when we go to a restaurant, I ask for the no kid section.
If I acted that way, I knew I was gonna get my .... beat, my son didn't act like that, all I had to do was give the look.
If your gonna take away the smoking section, at least give us a No Kid Section.

Hmmm, where I live there are no smoking sections anymore inside. Only on terraces. Then I live at the mediteranean coast, so allways nice wheather. In both countries, Spain where I live, and the Netherlands where I am quite often, there are many places where it is forbidden to smoke, but where we do it. Since a big part of the population doesn´t agree with the law, at many places we do not respect that law, and police, inspectors and other autoritys look in the other direction when they see it. When a loud shouting minority imposes a law to the silent mayority, these things happen.
In the Spanish parliament, the cleaners find every day lots of rests of cigarets and cigars from these people who are telling the others not to smoke. You can reed this in the newspapers, so who is going to obbey these laws?

One of the things I missed when I started vaping and could do it at my desk is my buddies in the smoking area. I had to get over that. In public, I don't avoid smoking areas but, I don't confine myself to them.

In a restaurant I'll ask the server, Sometimes they get the manager but, I've never been turned down. In a bar, I just do it and I've never had anything but, a few curious questions. Outside, I just do it. I never use anything in public that resembles a cigarette. You actually get a better response that way. If you use a cigarette looking kit, people think of you as a smoker that is trying to get around the rules. Use some kind of mod and they tend to be more curious than angry.

I tend to stay around the smoking areas, but that's only because I want to talk to the smokers and try to get them into a better bad habit :)
at work I mostly vape at my desk, but every now and then I'll head down to the smoking area to stretch my legs and talk to my friends, some of which I've already started converting to vaping :)
I do agree with the OP though, it was nice to have smoking sections in restaurants here to avoid the parents who can't control their kids... Too bad we don't have them here anymore :(

MO is still a freedom loving state, though some cities and counties not so much. St. Louis County became a no smoking county at the beginning of the year. Vaping is allowed. I tend to go to clubs and restaurants in neighboring counties because smoking is still allowed. "No kid" smoking sections are always more enjoyable.
