Have you checked to see if the coil assembly is fully screwed in to the base? I've noticed these have a habit of loosening sometimes.

When a coil is completely toast it will develop a hot spot that causes the wire in that area to get thinner and thinner, making the resistance increase until the wire fails.

How old is the coil? What are you using for a battery (or what wattage or voltage if VV/VW)?

I just watched a bunch of videos yesterday about dry burning the BVC (not the BDC). Seems to work fine as the wicking material is ceramic fiber. We also dry burned and dismantled a couple of used BVC nautilus coils at the vape shop and torched the wicking material today. The material became super clean, but was too hard and brittle to re-roll around the coil. I now just realize it probably needs to be pushed in as-it rather than trying to insert it with the coil.

I did learn something important: There IS a nautilus clone... the finish is rushed rather than polished and the top of the atty is missing the steel mesh. Look at the top of your coil and if you can't see steel mesh, then it is a clone.
