why is the "Medical Professionals" forum private?

It could be because some medical professionals are uncomfortable being associated with vaping. by stint of them being a doctor or what have you and being involved in vaping they're afraid that it adds some sort of medical legitimacy to it when the evidence is still pretty much unclear and unresearched to a definitive degree.
It's quite possible that the medical professionals forum is locked to give them a place where they can speak comfortably without having to worry about impacting their professional livelihood.

Hello and welcome.:toast: I don't know, but I've wondered also, how many members have access and just what is being talked about.

thank you :) glad i'm not the only one. could be filled with fantasy football threads for all i know. i just dont know why, considering how open i have found information regarding vaping... that there is a forum with potentially cutting edge info that is hidden. considering tobacco's legacy, i find it a tiny bit concerning. but like i said, it could be full of meme generator links idk...

Why do you have locks on your doors? To keep you from getting out?

The Sub-forum was created for Professionals - If Qualified, join.

Assuming any discussion goes on that you need to be aware of is simply your curiosity getting the best of you. I have no doubt anything the Vapor would NEED TO KNOW would be posted in the PUBLIC areas.

I suggest getting a degree in medicine or similar then u can join and see what's going on in there.

But really who blinking cares......

It's none of your business really that's why it's locked.

I sure bet some fed agencies would love to have a look see......

For the most part I jest of course, lol.

Have a nice day.

I would think its So med professionals can talk without letting the rest of us know they are med professionals. As soon as some people find out soandso is a doc, soandso starts getting PM's with questions like "doc, if I send you a pic of my rash would you tell me what it is?" Or "Doc, my symptoms are blah, blah, blah. Am I going to die?". We had a thread on another forum I'm on caledl "what do you do for a living". I fix things for a living and sure enough I got 3 PM's asking me to fix their stuff through email. I'm sure its worse than that for doctors. Not everyone on EFC has insurance:lol:

pretty sure your real name aint MrGimp and i doubt they are using their real name as well. i could be wrong, but i could see that as a viable reason. transparency would go a long way toward building trust though. just has the old tobacco zephyr feel to it.

Nope Mr Gimp's not my real name but it is a nickname. And I am a Gimp so it fits and no not a gimp like in Pulp Fiction but actually an ol' cripple .......

You wrote this in another post so I am guessing your are not all that ol'

"Just be careful, you didn't mention anything about Nicotine Strength so I just wanted to say that vaping Nicotine while pregnant is dangerous. Not trying to be a nazi or anything just trying to inform. Welcome to the fold sweety and Gratz on the baby! Wife and I are planning to try soon, was one of the reasons SHE bought me my first Ecig in July. (she's never been a smoker, though has hookah'd with me twice a while back)"

I'm a medical professional and have applied for permission to the med professionals forum. I haven't heard anything yet from the admin, but if there isn't an oath of secrecy involved in membership, maybe I'll let you know what they are talking about assuming of course you don't PM me at 3 am with pictures of your groin rash.

Moved to Site Feedback and Help.

Now, for the Medical Professionals question. As the forum description states:

A private board for qualified medical personnel. Admittance only on application to Admin (please see Contact page).

There are many "private" forums on ECF. Admittance to some are based on how long you've been a member. Some are by application only. If you can show to the Admin's that you're a qualified medical professional, they'd be more than happy to give you access. Just because you're "curious" doesn't mean you deserve access.

For more information on what unlocks as you post here, go to this link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...262-new-members-how-many-posts-do-i-need.html

I love your transparancy and slight of humor about it. Too many people get personal about disabilities and such. I'm rather overweight, slowly losing it since I now vape my snacks rather than eat a piece of cheesecake; and as a kid I was rather douchey about it. Now, I make more fat jokes about myself in a day than I got at school in a year and frankly I'm happier for doing so.
Everyone should be able to laugh at themselves and take abnormalities or other issues with a grain of salt. Anyone who chooses to pity and baby you for it rather than just help and be social isn't worth it; take it from my mother who is crippled with RA: pity is carefully guarded malice (in a light sense of the word malice, but I'm quoting her ver batum *sp?*), and those who say "Do it your damn self" are true friends trying not to hurt you, but make you stronger.
I cared for her for years and watching the people around her, I'd say she's honestly about 98% spot on there. Some pity is just sorrow for your plight, most does seem to be "Damn cripples need help with everything so I'll do it if no one else will."

On to the point though, I can see why posting could be limited but I think it would aid many of us to see some of the perspective they have on the world of vaping. They also have access to things we just don't which could also aid in advocacy.

I would assume it's a place for medical professionals to talk to each other AS medical professionals, being allowed to speculate, share information and such, without the rest of us chiming in without knowledge and ruining the conversation or taking what they discuss among themselves as medical advice. I'm sure if they come across any important valid information they do/will share.
