There's a fundamental difference of opinion here that cannot be bridged. I am a big proponent of free, open source software, whether it's an OS like GNU/Linux or firmware for a PV and I believe it's the responsibility of the user to use it safely and not have rules, can and cannots dictated tot them by a company.

maybe you should consider open sourcing yourself a better PV ... the Provari is not going to be open source any time soon.

So why exactly doesn't Provape do user upgradable firmware? What's the reasoning behind this? To me this is an ancient way of doing things but maybe there's a good reason?
Lemwise,
I get where you are coming from and I don't want to be a {MODERATED} to you. I don't like it when people are to me and I ask a legit question. We have answered your questions.

Thank you for admiting you are not going to get anywhere with most of us who own a P3 and we are not going to get anywhere with you.

Have a great weekend and God bless you!

The WhiteoutOS will be released soon which according to the makers is open source so it would be silly to spend time and effort on developing something myself if that does everything I want.

I hear ya DP ... the P2 is such an amazing device, it is the same vape as the P3, just without boost.

ProVape created the perfect PV with the P2 ... and they built it so tough, you really never have to buy another vape ever.

Willie knows he has a 1000 of them.

Heartwood Mods

Pic is of the units being taken to a local show in NJ.

One of them is mine!!!

Is it upgradeable?

Okie dokes. Perhaps the @Pinggolfer will do that for me...

Kat how much trouble do you expect me to get in?

Maybe Lem will be so kind as to sharpen up his game a bit, then come back and start another for us.

Read through some of the older ones I linked earlier, to get a feel for how it's supposed to work?

That would be so cool of you...

C'mon man. CHEER ME UP!

Please.

They were the best of the best.

Of course not but that's a different matter. The safety of the system and the privacy of the users depends for a large part on iOS being closed source. We're talking about an e-cig here, an simple electronic device that doesn't store any personal data.

Which has yet to be cloned. I wonder why!

Man you make me laugh.

This P2 you are referring to, is that the v2, or the 2015 Classic? Just want to be sure I have not been missing something. :)

They're basically the same thing, OP, with the differences being features (not functionality). Great devices, and they last a long time (trust me).

I call the P2 the v2.0 ... then came v2.5 ... then came the P3 ... then came the 2015 Classic

This one ... they made it so awesome, it kinda defeats ever needing another PV

Why do they care if someone wants to alter some things like for instance up the wattage limit? You bought the device so you should be able to do with it what you want. You own it.
Because of the simple fact that someone would go beyond safe limits, get hurt, blame provape and start a big legal battle for damages claiming provape was negligent by allowing their product to be altered enough to be unsafe.

Okay, just so I understand this correctly. Suppose Provape opens up the firmware for those who like to tinker and puts up a warning that doing so can be unsafe and is at your own risk, someone can still sue them if they get hurt? Is that how it works in the US?
