Oh, No tears from me...I see someone has run out of arguments. That's okay, it happens to the best. Don't cry, you'll do better next time![]()
Ah, I see. Like a counsel of wise vapers who are self proclaimed authorities on the subject. In that case, of course I'll travel all the way from The Netherlands to the US to discuss this face to face!
Anyway, you have yet to give a single argument why Provapes way is better. Like I said before, millions of devices have their firmware updated every day without getting bricked, and even an inferior Chinese manufacturer offers user upgradable firmware, so why not Provape? The only reason I've heard so far is because of the warranty. Well, if Provape is concerned about P3's getting bricked, the design of the P3 isn't all that great.
what happens if you drop the user upgradeable Chinese mod into water?
If I give it enough time to completely dry, I imagine nothing. That's happened to me in the past with other mods and they continued to work. But what does that have to do with anything? The battery connection on the board isn't sealed and that's how the ProVari programmer makes contact with the board. And yes, I have missed the post about this so I'd appreciate it if you could explain it again.
I started the thread because I was curious if there is a technical reason why Provape chose this method. Since then the thread has derailed (I'm also to blame for that) but I still haven't read of any technical limitation or design that prevented Provape from offering user upgradable firmware for the P3.Lem - I'm not sure why you care all that much what a company does or doesn't do. Either buy it or don't.
Just updated the Yihi SX Mini firmware for the fourth time and guess what? Nothing bad happened. The update completed without any problems and I'm still a happy vaper. Some of you ProVari fanboys need to stop making excuses for something that should never have been done the way Provape does it. Like schismz said, millions of firmware upgrades are carried out every day without bricking devices that are far more important than a PV. If Provape can't figure out how to do it for a PV, then they are a bunch of amateurs.
The Question was why did you have to update your device 4 times? The Real Question should be...
Why 4 Times?!?
Is somthin wrong witit?
Maybe by number 6 or 7 it'll vape like a ProVari... Till then, keep on updatin!!!
LOLz, Jim

.
The Question was why did you have to update your device 4 times?
I think the current test version which adds support for Titanium wire is actually the 6th update. I didn't buy the SX Mini when it was released so it's my 4th update. The reason for the updates is the same as with the P3 (which has had 4 firmware updates), to squash bugs and add features. The Question was why did you have to update your device 4 times?
And it brings in more money because they get to sell the ProVari programmer for 200 bucks a piece. And if they want to go back in time with this ancient way of updating, that's their right. It's so old fashioned it's not even funny anymore, but they can do whatever they want.Maybe they do things the way they choose for no other reason than it's how they want it done. .
Yes, I did. But I didn't get an answer.Lemwise, I apologize for not reading all your posts in this thread, but I am curious about something.
Did you actually contact Provape and ask them for their reasons why they do not offer user upgradable firmware?
