Why sub ohm?

vaping charts seem to indicate that best vaping occurs around 5 to 7 watts. What's the benefit to those approaching 20 watts and such? Seems like a scorched earth policy to me. I don't see how it could be a pleasurable vaping experience. I do see how clouds of smoke might be produced, though.

Is it just the vaping equivalent of monster trucks compared to normal pickup trucks? Or 160 decibel stereos compared to a normal am/fm radio?

I just don't get it, I guess.

I don't get it either. Those high wattages would blow out the back of my throat but some people like a very hot vape or throat hit. I see more disadvantages than advantages to such high watts. I think it's a macho thing but that's just MHO.

Vape performance and experience depends on a lot of variables. There is power (watts), coil surface area, wick material, wicking ability, atty air flow and juice selection. I'm sure there are more, but these come to my mind first and I suspect are the most important.

When one of these variables changes it affects all the rest. Get them all right for yourself at the same time and you have the ultimate vape experience for you. Putting 20 watts through a thin coil wire on a low efficiency wick with a low airflow atty with a certain juice will give you a hot vape with very burnt taste. Putting 7 watts through that same system will likely be very nice, giving good flavor, TH and vapor. Going the other way, 20 watts with thick resistance wire with a lot of surface area, a high flow wick and an atty with good air flow and you have a cool vape with maximum flavor, TH and vapor.

IMO there is no right or wrong here, just choices that work in different combinations for different people.
