Hi, fairly new to vaping and very new to this site. Never smoked cigs before and I am wondering how my nicotine consumption compares to that of a smoker. I use the Snowwolf MFENG with the .16ohm coils. I use 24mg ejuice and typically vape at 130-150 watts. I know this is a lot, but I seem to have a naturally high nicotine tolerance. I was wondering how many cigarettes is equal to what I'm vaping. Thanks in advance for any help!

Without a blood plasma analysis it's impossible to say. Nicotine absorption varies a lot between individuals and vaping techniques. If you vape too much nicotine you'll get dizzy/light headed and if you continue you'll get a headache and nausea. So if you're not experiencing that you're not vaping too much nicotine for your setup and technique.
There's no valid formula to convert from cigarettes to vaping.

Keep in mind that nicotine isn't what makes smoking cigarettes harmful, it's the smoke. What we vape is essentially disco fog with flavor and nicotine.

Nicotine is absorbed into the body a little differently for everyone so we can't give you an exact answer. Also with cigs you are getting SO much more than nicotine, so no comparison there. With the gear and way you are using it though, I can tell you yuo are intaking quite a bit more nicotine than the average vaper. Normally at that resistance and wattage we would be using 3 mg nic liquid, and most would probably say that replaces their pack and a half to two pack a day habit.
Frankly, if you are using normal ejuice at 24mg, not nic salts, it must be hell on your throat and I bet you get a pretty strong buzz after 5 minutes vaping. I'm sure you are not the only one who vapes like that, but that is not the norm.
So. You like vaping? Are you only doing it to get nicotine? Why?

I've never experienced any of the symptoms of getting too much nicotine (not sure why). I often chain vape it and still don't experience any issues whereas almost all of the people who try my vape tell me they just died. As for why I vape, I just like the nicotine. I never smoked because it's so bad for you, but vaping seems fairly harmless in comparison. Also, it never hurts my throat or anything, I really don't know why I'm so weird, but oh well I guess.

Nothing wrong with that, people are different and can tolerate/enjoy different things. You definitely get the "cowgirl with the iron throat" price from me

As I said, just because the nic in the liquid is high doesn't mean your body absorbs it all.

Are you sure your inhaling?

5 minutes of chain vaping YOUR setup and I would be in the hospital.

Theres a reason why you dont see eliquids on the shelf to much past 24 mg. And you dropping it hard. People with that setup usually drop down from like 18mg to 3mg cause thats a cloud chaser build. When u cloud chase it intensifies the not only the clouds but the nicotine concentration.

Lets find out if you inhale...

Do you fill your mouth full of smoke..And then inhale?
Do you hold the button longer then 1 second?

Peoplea re different and I definitely wasn't trying to say you are doing it wrong lol. Many new vapers do the same, try to get as much nic as possible, because they are trying to end addiction. You are not alone in not being a former smoker and starting to vape though, and if it makes you happy and you are being safe (learn as much as you can) you are doing the right thing.

I usually recommend 24mg freebase nicotine mtl to a packet a day ciggarette user(heavy smoker) who wants to quit. I use 10mg nic freebase, but trying to cut down on it slowly. If I cut it down any lower atm I tend to vape more. It's an ongoing battle atm.

Don't be mad at me for being nit-picky but to be more precise with big clouds or a denser thicker vape the nic is not more concentrated, you are just getting more of it all at once with all that vapor.
My 3mg vape (.25ohm, 77watts dual rta) is not too different from a 24mg mtler (Tootle Puffers :p) from what I can tell, nicotine-wise. But the delivery and feel is pretty different... And occasionally I can still vape enough to get a bit nic sic.

Interesting. See I find that to be quite high. Not saying you are incorrect with your recommendation but in comparison I was a 1.5 PAD sometimes 2 PAD smoker (large pack in Canada is 25 cigs) and I started with 6mg and found that dose to be just perfect. Even have 3mg juice that I use as a all day vape and find that to be sufficient as well. Never tried anything over 6mg….at least not knowingly.

Hi. How much liquid are you consuming? That piece is missing from the equation. We know anecdotally how many mls of a certain strength people usually need to match their smoking habit. Either way you are (probably) exceeding the nicotine dose of most smokers.

You are kind of an outlier, but they certainly exist. In these cases it's extremely hard to do a kind of "comparison shop" between smoking and vaping, and yours is confounded by the fact that you've never smoked.

How much liquid do you go through in a day, that might give more of a sense of the type of vaping you are doing. If you are taking 1 second puffs and going through little liquid it might explain your ability to tolerate that high amount of nicotine in your setup. Or, you are just a nicotine outlier and for whatever reason your body just seems to enjoy and tolerate nicotine.

I can't really offer much on health effects other than nicotine does seem to possibly have (some mild, and oftentimes rather murky and random) some effect on your cardiovascular system. If you are concerned, I might go find a doc who has at least some working knowledge of vaping and run your particular amount of mg/day past him/her and see if you want to work on reducing it or not.

Also how did you get to the level you were at did you start there, or did you steadily increase over time, as brains will adjust to nicotine so if you are searching for a "buzz" or "Effect" by raising nicotine you will get to a point of diminishing returns, and in fact you may already be there. But if this is your "sweet spot" and has been for a while... well that is what it is.

I am quite astonished that anyone should start vaping at 150 watts. No cautious puffs on a cigalike? No cheap ego setup along the way? It's kinda like starting swimming with a brisk transatlantic trip. Not that I disapprove, I like someone who plunges in and goes the whole hog.

Nicotine. After 40+ years of smoking and six-ish years of vaping I don't think I know anything about nicotine in terms of how much I ever absorbed or how much I absorb now from my 12mg liquid. I know that once past the cigalike stage I started with 32mg liquid, found it too harsh, and reduced to where I am now via 24mg and 18mg. Basically, it's just a matter of finding what suits you and how much you're absorbing can only be guessed at without specialised facilities. So if you're not suffering ill affects, what does it matter?
