Unless I'm goofing around with a sub-ohm dripper and am mainly just looking to blow clouds of vapor, I'm a mouth-to-lung inhaler. It's how I smoked my cigarettes when I was still using them, so it naturally carried over into my vaping habits. I don't normally 'puff' out the first drag, but will often blow the first one out of my nose and take one or two more MTL pulls for each drag. I consider that first pull mainly a primer for the next two. I suppose some people just prefer to blow the primer pull out instead of inhaling it for whatever reason.

Maybe they are letting things "warm up" before taking that big hit to show off how big of a cloud can be produced? I have noticed that too and that's what I think based on my RDA's. If you take a pull soon as you push the button you don't get as much vapor as waiting a beat and then pull. Gives the coil time to heat up and fill the chamber with vapor. Hope that makes sense...lol

It's a primer puff for me. And maybe a bit of a habit too.

Habit for me, too. My old clearo/ego battery setups "required" the primer puff for my tastes (first one was going to be "dry or harsh" due to using thick 100%VG juices). Now that I use RDA's regularly, I still do this, though it's not really "doing" anything extra for me. Habit, I suppose, but good for me, nonetheless. Whatever works for ya is all good.

When I watch a Youtube video about e cigarettes, I notice that when they demonstrate a vape they all ,initially, let a puff of mist out of their mouth before they inhale. Is there a reason for the "puff"? Paul

Habit; it checks it things are working like they're supposed too.

If the coil is flooded, you'll notice from the puff.
If no power is getting to the coil, you'll notice from the puff.
While you're drawing vape in, you're not actually tasting anything.

its a mouthtolung vape; you draw into your mouth, then you inhale; at this point when you inhale that's when you get the taste.

I say it's all habit. I did the exact same thing when I was burning coffin nails. There's no reason to give a primer puff on a dripper, so I have to intentionally stop myself from doing so.

In the Youtube videos, though, it's part showmanship and part marketing. Riptrippers is a primary offender: every week he makes a video on a new coil, with names like the SUPERMACRONANOMICRO DRAGONCLAXON DIAMOND XXXTREME (IMPROVED MODEL 3) because of ad revenue. Christ, if every other day he didn't "discover" a new, better, higher-producing coil he'd be destitute. Every coil HAS to be better than the last, or at least claimed as such.
