Why would I want a Hybrid system?

Hi there,

I bought a Riva 510 starter kit about 6 months ago. I started on the cartomizers, but something was missing and either way I couldn't stick to it, went to a dual vaper/smoker for a while and then finally buckled back onto the analogues full time. I bought a heck load of flavours too and they just sat there. I came across this forum a few times in between (I've been trying to quit smoking for a long long time).

Then a couple of weeks ago I thought I would give it another go so I bought an Ego 510 starter kit (all of the above from liberty flights thus far) and this time it came with clearomizers, I pumped in some juice and barring one drunk evening I haven't touched an analogue since. I sort of quit by accident I guess, there's been no effort on my part what-so-ever compared to the times I tried to quit cold turkey/NPT etc.

Anyway, one thing I've loved about e-cigs is the hobbyist attachment I love reading info, checking out cool stuff and trying the new things. This has lead me to the Tornado-T and Ego-C (I bought the separately and put them on the batteries I already have) which I think are absolutely amazing the flavor is fantastic! and the clearomizers have a really good throat hit which I think is cool for when I want to switch things up.

Recently I saw this 'Hybrid' concept and it's got the feature creaper inside me wondering whether (if I can find one cheap enough) if I should buy one.

What is a hybrid? How is it different from what I have already? Is it worth getting one? What is the next step up from what I have already?

My apologies for the long post, Many thanks for any replies :)

A mod is always better than a highly mass produced starter kit. Hybrids are what's known as mechanicals with what is known as an RBA attatched together. A mechanical is a mod without any electrical components. Less that can go wrong, and less added resistance from components. An RBA is a rebuildable atomizer. You rebuild it to your specs when it goes bad, or you feel like it. Its essentually a low resistance set made for you to tweak and get the experience you want out of it. Hope this helps!

Considering the price point of a hybrid, you may want to experiment with a mechanical device with a cheap rebuildable atomizer like the AGA-T+/2.
Hybrids are also pretty hard to get your hands on. My advice is to get verified so you can participate in the classifieds section of the site, which may give you an opportunity to use one. If it turns out you don't like it, you could likely re-list it for little to no loss. Of course, we discourage profiteering here on ECF.
The next step up for you would probably be a big-battery regulated device, like a vamo or a lavatube clone. The price point is good, and the voltage/wattage regulation is accurate enough on those.
Oh, and you don't NEED to build a low-resistance set up. You can use a normal to high resistance set up on a hybrid if you like, but that defeats the purpose, for some of us. It's a matter of preference.
You could also introduce the 'Kick' by evolv, which is a means of turning an unregulated device into a variable wattage device, but that's another conversation all together.
