I find there are three things going on in my fogger v4.1 (similar design of atomizer to the russian) as you go through liquid that builds the flavour.

1) the flavour 'beds in' to your wick and to some extent burns onto your coil
2) your juice will slowly start to cook and darken a little (most noticeable after two or three tanks worth)
3) I find if I am chain vaping that once the tank and liquid have warmed up that it seems to wick better.

Those are the things I have always blamed for awesome flavour.

I call that "Micro Steeping" basically as you go through your day with your tank, and the juice inside, being exposed to more air than it would in a botle at home, it steeps more rapidly.
Juice steeps, just like tea, you let it sit and all the ingredients settle and incorporate or just settle, either way once shaken up after steeping, the flavor is more bold.
I live in Texas, where it's always hot, and I find that when i buy a new bottle of juice, if I let it sit in my car for a few hours during the afternoon, a juice that was very pale with a light yellow tinge, may be a dark orange after "Auto Steeping" in my car for a few hours.
That's my explanation ^_^

Agree with the caramelizing, concentrating, steeping, etc.

You mentioned it is more noticeable on new coils. I find the same thing. I believe that it takes a bit to burn off any residue on the wire and dilute any residual flavor on the wick (cotton or silica)...got to build up that nice sugar coating on the wire. Usually takes me a mil or so to get rid of that "new coil" flavor.
