I have been using silica from vapoligy. It cost 2.95 for 5 feet of 3mm. I also have been using xc-116, it lasts longer than silica but costs quite a bit more. Sngvapor has it from time to time for 7 bucks for 1 foot. Bigtexvapor I think is the name of the site started selling it too for the same price. For a good cheap rebuild though silica is probably what your looking for.

I'm using 100% Cotton Yarn for mine. Paid 1.88, I believe it was at Walmart for 190 yards of it. The company that puts it out is called Peaches and Cream. I'll never use all that came in that one roll for under 2 bucks! If you look for it in the sewing section...you'll see those longer type rolls of yarn..these are smaller bundles of it. Don't do like I was going to do though..LMBO! I almost threw the whole 190 yards in the boiling water! Haha...that would have been one heck of an untangle!

This might sound stupid, but, I have watched a lot of videos on how to build coils, and they like to dry-burn before use. Am I safe to do this with cotton, or how should I deviate after the coil is on the cotton?

Cant dry burn cotton it will burn to all holy hell. All you have to do after you boil the cotton and build the coil is make sure you saturate the wicks full of juice before firing.

I use cotton in my evods and protanks...tastes much better than silica in my opinion. Here is where I got mine Square Braided 100 Cotton Wick 6 0 4 0 2 0 1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 | eBay

It's like 5-6 bucks for 10yards(~30feet) depending on which size you get, plus free shipping. I don't even know if you have to boil that kind, it says raw unwaxed unprimed lead and zinc free...I'm going to try some unboiled but I haven't yet. I ordered the #2(2.5mm) size, but to be honest it is to big to fit in the stock protank coils, so I have to make my own coils to get it to fit. I just ordered #1/0(2mm) to see if that fits, which I think it will, but I won't have that till tuesday.

You can't dry burn the cotton wicks..but I never dry burn my wicks, even the Silica wicks that come with all the tanks I buy...I've got some that after 50 days of Vaping, are still good to go. Of course, I have quite a few tanks, so don't use every one every day.

This is a company that sells the wire for a really good price in bulk. I personally don't use ebay..so this place is the best I could find after lots of searching, that wasn't ebay.

I recently recoiled all of my vivi nova heads with cotton. A 3rd of them got the aforementioned peaches and cream cotton yarn, a 3rd got a thinner crochet yarn, and then I used cheesecloth in a 3rd of them at RPad's recommendation.

So far I'm really impressed with the cheesecloth one, i'm trying to finish off the juice in my other two vivi novas and try the other two yarns but i don't want to put the cheesecloth one down.

I boiled the whole mess for 20 minutes, incidentally.
