I got some menthol e juice from a local tobacco store when I got my (standard non VV) ego and from day one I was having issues with taste. I was thinking it was a bad head on my clearomizer so I changed it and the weird almost nose burning taste was still there! After going through 3 of the 5 heads I had I went back to another local store and got a different brand and the issue is gone. Both places I got juice didn't give the actual VG/PG % , just the nicotine level ( I know I should get some quality juice but...). Anyway, I'm guessing it was a wicking issue with the first brand? Is there any way I can salvage the first bottle by maybe adding a little distilled water, or is that a bad idea? I know most would toss it but I wanna keep it as a back up. I'm gonna start ordering quality juice but I've been analong free for over a week and didn't wanna do without while waiting on a order. The taste it gave was truly terrible! I started to have a sore throat and like I said earlier it kinda burned my nose on the exhale. Looking around here led me to believe it may not have been wicking properly in my top coil clearo. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Don't add water! Sounds like dry hits. I suggest bottom coil tank, mini protank-2 is a good choice. If you don't have the money just tilt your tank tip down to wet the wicks. Good luck.

I made it a habit to tilt and or roll it in my hands to make sure the wick was fully saturated after nearly every vape to no avail. Most of the time if I left it to sit the first vape or two wasn't as noticeable. Almost as if once the coil heated a time or two it was back to the same terrible taste.

I normally use a bottom coil tank, but I have tried two top coil tanks and had the same issue, I've been meaning to bring them to a local vape shop to find out why. If you have a shop nearby maybe try showing it to them. what brand are they?

wait, you now have a clearo that works but the juice is bad? You mean the juice left in the tank?

They are some sort of a clone I'm guessing. Its 2 ml and had a sleeve over the tank. The store I got the tank and the first bottle (and second for that matter) doesn't really know much about vaping it seems. The owner said they just started to carry vape equipment. I'm gonna get a better mod I just didn't wanna drop a lot of money into my first rig and hate vaping.

I'm still using the same clearo I just got a different brand e juice and it works fine and the taste I was talking about is gone. I'm even using one of the heads that tasted funny after a rinse and dry burn. That's what's making me think it was the juice wasn't wicking properly, like maybe it was too thick? ( it appears to be about the same viscosity as the juice that's working)

Could have just been nasty juice! There's lots of weird juice out there:p

Doesn't help that I live in the boondocks where even seeing any vaping equipment in a store is a rarity. Guess I'm ordering all my stuff off the net from here on out. Closest vape shop to me is 60+ miles away.

yeah the local shops often aren't very helpful or knowledgeable. If you go to this forum General E-Smoking Discussion and post pics of what your set up is, you'll get some helpful feedback I bet :)

Thanks. I'm new to the form and vaping so its almost overwhelming trying to find where to look first. Its almost like when I get on YouTube looking at one thing and before I know it I'm wayyyy out in left field. Lol

Sounds like it might be low-quality juice.

Menthol can be tricky, too.

Add the two together & you have a recipe for disaster.

Unfortunately there's little you can do to salvage low-quality juice.

You can mix a bad flavor with another good one if it's not to your liking to make it more palatable, but it's hard to mix out lousy quality. Especially if it's messing with your health in any way.

When trying new brands & new flavors, always buy the smallest bottle first. And if you find a good brand, don't automatically assume that everything else of theirs you'll love, too.

It takes a little while to get going, and can be a little frustrating at times, as there is a learning curve. But once you get rolling, it will be totally worth it.

Congrats on quitting the cigs. Keep vaping for now if it keeps you off them.

And stick around this place for a while.. it'll open your eyes like you wouldn't believe! :thumb:

I agree with Gato. There are a bunch of nasty, low quality juices out there. High price does not always = High Quality either. When in doubt get the smallest bottle you can order and vape it empty. If you enjoyed it through the entire process then feel free to reorder in a larger size. Personal tastes are very different.

There's some great stuff on YouTube where experienced vapers do reviews on all kinds of equipment, if you want to see it in action.

Also read reviews & threads here at ECF... certainly helped me pick my first mod recently, which I bought online.. and it's been an excellent choice!

Thanks! Youtube and this forum is what kept me from starting with a Blu starter kit. Not saying they are a bad place to start but the way I am, I would have wanted something more in no time (seems im never satisfied)
