Wicking issue? Maybe?

Hi guys!

So, I have an iPv4 with a subtank mini on it. I'm running the iPv4 in temp control mode at 25j, 420F, 2.68v, with a Ni200 build (10 wraps around a 1/8th drill bit) that comes in at 0.16ohms.

I was using organic cotton (the sandwiched stuff) for about a month (no joke, the wick was perfect until about two days ago.) and started to notice a decline in flavor of my anti-lag juice (60%VG/40%PG) which still tasted pretty good. So, I rebuilt a new coil because why not and wicked it with my normal sandwiched organic cotton, but my vapor tasted like t-shirt.

I took everything apart and rewicked it again, thinking maybe I'd man-handled the cotton too much the first time, but to no avail. It still tasted like t-shirt. No hint of my anti-lag juice in there, just... wet t-shirt. I'd cleaned everything really well and what not, but thinking it might have been the cotton, I ordered new cotton.

But in the mean time, I needed something to vape until my cotton gets here on Saturday, so my husband took me up to Walgreens and I picked up some organic cotton balls. However, now, with the cotton ball wicked in my coil, it tastes like nothing. Not t-shirt, not burnt toast, not anti-lag, just nothing.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? I'm not necessarily getting dry hits (I think o: ), but I miss the taste of my juice and it's a little frustrating.

I tried positioning the wick different to see if I can accommodate the stupidly small juice holes on the subtank mini, but it didn't help.

I'm just looking for a temporary fix until my cotton comes in. Any ideas?

Also, completely side question, does anyone have a suggestion for a RTA with a wider deck and better juice holes that performs as well as or better than the subtank mini? I do enjoy the STM, but I have essential tremor and it makes difficult to put a coil where it needs to be to line the ends of the coil up with the screws.

I've looked at a few, but my vape contact is MIA for the moment, so I can't get opinions. :c

What did you use to clean it with and did you make sure everything was dry (if you used water, alc, etc) before putting your tank back together?

Sometimes new cotton- no matter what kind takes some time to break in. On my RDAs I generally drip liquid on new cotton builds and then fire it and blow on them to break in cotton without having to risk tasting some funky flavors. Even after that there is still a period of break in time before I get the full booming flavor. While you can't really do this with a tank, I would just vape on it for a little while and hopefully the cotton breaks in.
