Hey ECF. I recently got a nemesis clone that I picked up on eBay. I'm not sure exactly who makes it, but I will post a picture.

Until my 18650's arrive, all I have on hand are some AW 18490's. Will these batteries work in my nemesis? I've tried to reconfigure the body to make them fit, however I haven't had any luck!

Please let me know-
Thanks!

Yes, they'll work...
Nemisis has a top cap, three extension rings, main-body w/locking ring, and the button assembly.

For an 18490 you just need the cap, button assembly, main body, and one extension ring (the middle size one that's about 1.9cm).

The smallest one is about 7mm (including threads [around 4mm visible when assembled]). It can be difficult to see on a fresh new polished unit so look close. That's the Kick or PTC fuse ring. Remove that.

First loosen the positive pin and screw in your atty to a nice flush mount.
Finger tighten the positive connection.
Assemble the rest of the mod with a battery inside.
Don't forget that you can make adjustments with the thumb screw of the button assembly.

Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the "rattle" and get it to fire? The battery (button top) does need to be facing upward right?

Yes, back the screw out in the button assembly until you get a snug fit and reliable fire action of your preference.

If you like you can put a bit of dental floss in the threads of that screw to give it a tighter feel...but I've never had the need for that here.

What exactly is the button assembly? I know I sound like a ....., but I honestly don't know!

Thanks credo. Could you possibly take a pic and show me what I need? Learning this thing is like learning a foreign language at this point!

I'd be happy to do so but I'm on my way out the door for an appointment.

I'll try to explain real quickly though.

Take out the button and look at the end of it that screws up into the mod. You should see a silver thumb screw. Back it out a few turns and try again. It's safe to take the screw all the way out then put it back in if you want to get an idea of how long it is, just be sure that you're holding the black delrin ring down so it doesn't all come apart on you.

You should see that you've got a pretty good bit of length on that contact screw to work with. Back it out for shorter batteries, tighten it in for longer ones.

If your clicking action is noisy and you sense it's coming from looseness in that thumb screw, then you can just put a bit of dental floss or sewing thread down into the screw hold, hold it vertical, and put the screw in. That'll tighten it up a bit.

Thanks for your help! Are these basically the pieces I need?
