Will I end up buying a pen-style anyway?

Hey everyone,

I've orderd a m401 and am very much anticipating its arrival. As ive been reading more and more ive been coming to the realisation that a lot of people use these m401's when they go out and use other pen styles when around the house.

Do you think that im likely to end up down this path?

If i was thinking about an upgrade, would a passthrough pretty much take care of this requirement anyway?

This ultimately leads to the simple question, are then any advantages to the penstyle e cigs other than battery life.

Thanks in adavance

Other than battery life, other than the need to re-fill (carts) less often, other than more vapor, other than a more realistic and analog-like draw and other than (IMHO) more flavor -- they're pretty much the same. =)

Again, IMHO, what needs to be taken into account is the frustration level of a mini to the new e-cig user. It shouldn't be a PITA to vape. When one is making the transition from smoker to e-cig user there's enough new things going on, lots of new things to learn -- getting frustrated by a mini shouldn't be one of them.

BUT -- many of us do the same thing. We want the feel of a traditional cigarette and buy a mini. It's not money wasted. They make a fine back-up and if one doesn't mind fiddling around more often with the mini, they serve a basic function.

Good luck.

hi syd, from what i have read people love the usb pass through. also from what i have read the pen style has good battery life unlike the other e-cigs and another advantage seems to be a consistent amount of vapor. whether or you not you head down the same path really depends on whether or not your happy with the product you ordered. hope this helps!

Yep - Apostle has your long range plan down to a tee.

I started out with several different color 901's. They were good to start with. I began to get frustrated with performance, so I went to mini pipes and then to the penstyles. The penstyle is my favorite so far. I wish it was the first I tried. Anyway, as much as I like the penstyle, I am looking for the Holy Grail. During the next month I will be purchasing either the SD or the JS. I am leaning towards the SD since it is metal, while the JS is plastic.

My first was a dse901 mini. I got the one that resembled an analog for emotional reasons. I got frustrated with the battery life and topping off the carts after 4 draws. I got a dse801 penstyle and I'm happy with it for the most part. The carts don't need refilling as often and the battery life is better. I was getting roughly 2 hours on my 901 and I get about 5 hours on my penstyle. I use a passthrough with a battery pack around the house and save my batteries for when I'm out and about. I have used my battery pack in public and hardly notice the people staring at me anymore, but I prefer to be unencumbered when I'm out and about. I will say that I wish I would have initially gotten a Screwdriver or a Prodigy off that bat instead of spending a bunch of cash on the ones I have purchased. I can't justify spending a huge amount of cash again in addition to what I have already spent, but I realize now that I would have been better off with one of the mods from the start cause I vape a lot. I will be building my own mod next because there are some excellent "how to" videos. That way, I can spend my money on stockpiling 36mg juice while I can get it since I mix my own liquid as well. I agree with Richie that having a backup is a good thing and not money wasted. With that in mind, knowing what I know now, I would have started with the penstyle and graduated to a Prodigy with which I can use the 801 atomizers and carts with. I rarely use my 901.

I'm with Corki. I started with a mini because of its cigarette-like size, but for feel, cartridge capacity and draw (if they work!), penstyles were my favourite. I'm still using one with a USB passthrough, but mounting hardware problems have turned me away from them. Battery performance eventually declines and there are problems with wonky atomisers (ill-fitting cartridges and the like).

I'm now using an e-cigar as my main device. However those batteries also seem to decline/don't hold their charge etc. Although at 2.50 (from iVapour) they are a lot cheaper than penstyle batteries!

Still using my minis as back-ups and to experiment with new flavours. Their atomisers are little powerhouses and the carts smoke dry quickly, so they're ideal for that.

That is the key, Corki. Whether one buys a Prodigy or a JS or whatever mod he/she can still use those 801 attys, (and soon to be 510 and 901 attys via an adapter) that came with the penstyle set.

AND, even more important than that -- should (whatever) mod die while one is out and about, we only need to carry a penstyle battery with us. Unscrew the atty from the mod, screw on the battery and we're back in business. I use a JS as a primary device but I carry 2 801 batts just in case.
